lol this was in theatres. I don't know. I think i'm conflating this and sky school into one movie. But ya, i definitely say this in the theatre. Took me 2 years to track it down. I had like a memory of seeing a movie with my brother and there was skiing and it was only when i saw a rerun of a james bond flick with Roger Moore than i remembered the lead. I don't remember it as a sport movie tho. IT was like the rat race but with roger moore and snow.

I've only read book one of A Song of Ice and Fire, but I'm willing to bet that by the last book, Jon Snow and Danerys Targaryen hook up and rule together. I mean, isn't it kind of obvious that's what the title alludes to? :o

Any good? I've never read any of them.

the first 3 books are really good... somewhat ponderous reading at times, but good nonetheless. george rr martin spares no detail, i promise you that.

the series starts to go downhill somewhat in book 4. i still haven't gotten my hands on the 5th book (a dance with dragons) primarily because my sister has said it "sucks total donkey dick."

ultimately, the series is supposed to go 7 books, but fans are unsure whether or not grrm will live long enough to finish it off.

Is this good, or bad? :p I mean, I really like fantasy novels - LOTR is a pretty good story and all, but JESUS ING CHRIST so much irrelevant detail. Family heritages, etc. Too damn dry.

I'm a pretty big fan of Terry Goodkind, even though he gets pretty ing preachy in his later books, but whatever.

this might seem irrelevant to the conversation, but this weekend at AMC for ParaNorman 3D, I saw a first glimpse of 'The Hobbit'.

it's lookin' pretty tight.

It's very good. Very good. The detail and depth of family histories is so essential to the plot. Everyone's lives are interwoven - no choice made by any character is insignificant. Things happen later in the story and you find yourself recalling something from the earlier chapters and saying "Aha!"
