| How long did he spin this time at Stereo? Was he as good as last year? I'm surprised to not see any initial reviews of his set this time around. |

(((thank you)))
my first time at stereo and i now understand why every dj who spins there loves it and spins extended, amazing sets wow
i was there for danny's entire set...
he came on and started off really strong, he was playing some really really good music, he was even droping some dark prog house, down in nyc he hassent played stuff like that in a while as well as even some melodic trancey stuff. then i would say after 2 hours of a good set he started to get kinda up and down, like he would play 30-45 min of good tech house then outta no where slow it down for a few then build it back up, this continued for a good 2-3 hours
then at 9am...AFTERHOURS DESTRUCTION HAS BEGUN!!!
hard hard hard in filthy tribal drums holy lord, i havent heard a good tribal set like that in years. after that he was pretty relentless with the drums, twisted danny tech house bombs and some techno
at around 11 he was in still goin nuts but then gets on the mic and says since he didnt get proper sleep he is gonna stop for an hour to program his set better then come back and play all day long
so from like 12 to 1 dj burchan took over and played a solid set.
dt came back on at 1 where there was maybe about 200 people left in the club and played a in solid set dammm he was on fire for a good hour and a half, then after that he slowed it down with some deep stuff/classic/experimental type stuff. he did pick it back up later on with some more tribal bombs
his last hour he was just on the mic talking about music and life still playing some solid stuff
closed out with 2 or 3 hard hard techno songs to get everyone ready for him and chris liebing in nyc on nov 17th
he talked about getting a bus together to bring people from montreal to nyc for it
back to the club...wow it was my first time there and it was amazing
down here in nyc, we havent had a big room feeling like that in years
the crowd, vibe, lights and the mighty mighty sound system. you could be by the bar or on the dancefloor and the sound sounds exactly the same. you can have a conversation with the person next to you and dont have to yell. it was just soooo crisp and clear, i was there for 14 hours and i left there with no ringing in my ears
amazing experience i will never forget.
some tracks i do remember him playing...
peter presta- o rox drums (peter presta 2009 remix)
spektre- harpoon (alex di stefano remix)
schiller- ruhe (humate remix) <~~ p.s if anyone knows the track he played right after it i would loveee to know song blew my mind
some mix of pink floyd-staircase to heaven
river ocean- love & happyness
theres probly a few more but thats all i remember as of now
and for you stereo heads dt did say next time he comes he is unsure of what kinda party he wants to do...
1)classics
2)boo yourself @ scareo (halloween party)
and there was one other kinda party he said, so def keep ya eyes open for one of those.
overall minus a few hours of dannys up and down b.s it was def a musical journey and alot dif than seeing him in nyc
i will def be back up to ((())) for other parties, i miss the club already, such an amazing venue |

He goes up & down intentionally. It causes you to appreciate the ride between the highs and lows. It takes some getting used to, and sometimes it just doesn't work, but when I learned to appreciate it I was happier for it.
Glad to hear he was on, there's nothing like DT at Stereo on a good night. |

Nice review Andrew! Always fun reading about someone's first stereo experience
Really bummed that I couldn't make the trek to Montreal to jam to a DT marathon set with you like we talked about last month... especially with it being your first time at the temple! I'm moving in less than a week so I had to tie up a bunch of loose ends before the big day...next time man, promise!
I agree with WittyHandle - it's the ups and downs that make a DT marathon set complete - without them it wouldn't be DT! He takes you through a full-blown complex journey, sometimes 2-3 times within a set that long. Hill tops and valleys! |
