Funny that deadmau5 says he needs to preprogram everything for it to work. Guess he didnt hook up with the right video crew or just decided to take the easy way out.
Feed Me's video set up detects the track he is playing (well more specifically, it's split up into clips) and will automatically play the video files associated with that clip at the adjusted tempo if needed, etc.
Here's a cool video to describe it:

Sweet video...

haven't watched the video... but isn't Feed Me on Deadmau5's label? seems like he'd be aware of this technology.

From what I can tell, the main engine they seem to use for the video is Ableton (probably with some extra plug-ins to make it do more than it can with video). There may be multiple instances of it on more than one machine - all linked together to trigger each other -- to handle the video playback.
They showed other stuff that Ableton is possibly linked to, if it's used during live production, but most of the other stuff seemed to be what they used to create the videos itself (before brought into Ableton). They looked to be tweaking the video elements in Ableton itself for playback. Using ABleton would allow the video to go at the speed of the BPM.
I could be very wrong, but just what I saw in the one time I watched it.
