Almost identical to the set I heard him play at Privilege last week. Some good and some bad. The fact its so inconsistant with him now I actually found myself getting bored and just waiting on the good tunes to come instead of enjoying the whole set and the vibe of it.
Also the fact he plays so little "traditional" trance a lot of the time it actually doesnt sound like Armin at all. when he did play more like his old self the crowd did not respond to it. Ill Listen is a massive track but it must have got the smallest pop of any tune he played.
then there is the Universal Religion thing. He has a new album packed with new tracks yet barely plays any of them live except for the recording in Privilege. It strikes me that the UR sound simply doesnt work with a live crowd for him anymore. Either that or easing new tunes into his sets is becoming more and more difficult as the big crowds want the "hits". But I wish he would just try and persevere with it and actually educate the crowd like a DJ should especially a DJ who has such a devout love of trance as Armin does |

110% agree with you here my man. I too went to Ibiza this year and got to see him (on our first night on the island) and boy was I disappointed. For the first time ever during an Armin set, I just stood there instead of danced. It was a very trousey/big room/electro crap type of a set. He saved the very last 15 mins to throw in some 138+bpm but it was far too late to save the set. The two best tracks he played was Stresstest and that Burned with the Wave mashup. I heard those very two same tracks (played in the same sequence) at a set earlier in April of this year. I didnt think Armin could reach such a low..and it looks like this is only the beginning of his low point he's about to reach.
I feel that he, like many others (gareth, A&B, Markus, etc), are starting to kill their orginal fan base & once this bull fad of edm is over, they're gonna have no one left to support them. The tiest part about it is they will have done so much damage to the genre that the new & upcoming artists will develop their sound based on this terrible type of trance hear today. Not based on the good stuff from previous years. And all of these s will have made their millions so they will all be laughing anyways.
After the first Monday at Privelege, we went again the following week but this time solely for Markus' solo set. I didnt step foot in the main room to hear Armin..not for a second did it cross my mind. I told myself after the week previously I would never pay to see this guy again. It's unfortunate because he is my all time favourite DJ. I liked him as a musician and a person too but I couldn't be bothered anymore. Seeing that tracklist above makes me sick actually. |

| Agree with you guys. So strange why he plays such boring sets full of ty tunes, while ASOT is top notch every week. |
