Which mixer

I'm planning to buy aa new mixer and I've narrowed it down to the Pioneer DJM 500/600, Vestax PMC 270a or the Korg Kaoss Mixer. Any suggestions and I'm looking for one that has good monitoring cos some places I play do not have good monitors
Joel Fielder
The Korg Kaoss is an effects unit. And mixers don't have monitors built in.

Try a Neve V Series.

Oops! Sorry for the misunderstanding.. Wat i meant about the monitoring in tne mixer was the headphone cue.. I need a mixer which you can mix in the headphones(split cue) cos sometimes some monitor speakers are not very reliable.

Yes i know the Korg Kaoss Pad is an effects unit but Korg has recently launched a new mixer which incorporates the Kaoss pad and a whole host of other features.

Since its still new I presume no one has had much of a chance using it yet so what about the Vestsx PMC 270a or the Pioneer DJM 600?
Joel Fielder
Cool so is that Kaoss aimed at DJs then?

Well I use a Gemini 626 and that's got split cues but doubtless other people have their favs.

Oh yeah its for djs.. You can even use the kaoss pad to cross fade between your two records, sample the sound from your source and scratch it on the pad like real vinyl in real time.. Check out the demo at Korg.com

Go with the Vestax....best sound quality out of them all. If you are looking for a alright mixer and a good effect processor...go with the djm, but the sound quality is with that one.

What do you think of the ROLAND DJ1000 mixer?
DJ Bo
personally i think that the pioneer DJM-600 is a kick ass mixer but a good alternative would be the roland dj-2000 not the 1000. if you're gonna put down that much cash on a mixer you better have more then 2 channels. Plus the 2000 has a FX section on it. The only bad thing about this mixer is that it has a BPM counter on it. Well hope this helps.

If you are willing to spend the money for a DJM-600, then why not just get an Allen&Heath Xone mixer (either the 32 or 62) - absolutely superior in every way ... well, maybe not as many effects and no sampler but these features on the 600 are a joke anyway. So yeah if you want a rock-solid professional quality mixer go with Allen&Heath ... or if you really insist on one of your suggestions then go with the Vestax PMC270.

I guess it depends on how much you're able to spend. I use an old Bozak but they're probably hard to find. Rane makes an excellent mixer if you can afford that. Numark has been around for a while. I haven't checked out their new mixers but Numarks are usually dependable.

Allen & Heath xone 32? Yeah I've read excellent reviews about that mixer.. Its got everything I need as well.. But its hard to get hold of them where I'm from unless I order it thru the internet which means I can't try it out first.. Anyone out there used one before?
