I know it's always been different in the UK, but I don't recall Trance- of any variety- ever having entered the American mainstream, much less to the tune of an expiration date.

To that point, are we finally undergoing the commercial Dance music explosion that the UK went through about ten years ago, J?

There was never an explosion here 10 years ago. Dance music was extremely popular here from 1988 onwards and that didn't abate across the '90s.
