I wouldnt say everybody at exchange is concerned with throwing dollars around. You dont think circus would like to sell bottle service to its patrons if they had them? Back in the old giant/spundae days, bottle service was common. They actually had one of the dopest VIP hosts to ever host VIP, mr VIP TOM!

I agree, VIP service there was the best. but.... them days are over unfortunately... Circus would have to go thru a multi-millon dollar renovation and even then, I don't know if they could get the place full like we remember. It's a new and different world out there.

not everyone at exchange you're right. Our good ole days of clubbing are over. Just different now.

I am just glad that LMD and Circus are keeping it going in LA, otherwise I don't think alot of these trance guys would be playing anywhere else

I don't think they need to renovate unless they want to attract the trustfund babies. The venue has the character I like without the pretentiousness.

I commend LMD for pushing it and bringing quality trance artists. Circus is a huge venue with 3 massive rooms. I suggest utilizing the other rooms to book other quality artists that range from deep house, house, techno and throw-in drum n bass, dubstep and breaks. Make it a proper night where one can experience top artists from different genres.

All I can say is it's a waste of space.

I would agree. I dont think Circus is empty because the club is not renovated. They have been solely focused on an extremly small niche of a particular brand of trance for years now. I know Johnny's passion lyes with trance, but I dont think it would hurt to incorporate other sounds and try new things at this point. I get the circus crowd has been considered a trance crowd for sometime, but circus could benefit from some fresh ideas in regards to music policy and build a new crowd. Especially considering that awakening at exchange has pretty much gobbled up the trance market at this point. Circus loyalists would still show up IMO

I dunno if I agree with that, at least not with the LA club going gays I've seen. The ones around Circus seem to be the snotty gays that are pretty anti straight people. I've heard and seen plenty of gay group reactions when they walk into the main room on a mixed night and realize it's straight people. It's pretty much how you would expect a southern hillbilly to react walking into a gay club. I don't care about having a mixed side, I just prefer to not hang out with a bunch of dudes walking around shirtless, but it is what it is.

I agree with you there - I was talking about gigs back east and in Canada. The gays here in LA are pretty intolerant of straight people. Snotty is right.

It's hard to book talent in general. With so many venues in LA (not just Hollywood) it's very difficult to book the talent you want without having to compete with other venues/promoters. As mentioned in other threads, Insomniac has such a strangle hold on talent that no one can book .

I do agree with you though. I think it would be awesome to see some good techno in that side room.

That's what I was trying to say in my last post. As far as la snobs are concerned I take credit. I apologize if my words seem ill conceived. I wish everyone a beautiful sunny day and a good night.
The whole gay night straight night thing is baffling. Only in la. When some one solicits sex in your club and a trancehed like myself is just there to dance... well that's just what happens when you mix I guess.
So exchange is the new trance place to go. Thanks for the heds up.

Awakening @ Exchange on Friday nights is Trance. Show up on Saturday for Inception @ Exchange for House. Show up at Circus on Saturday for LMD Trance. Those are pretty consistent for now, other clubs kind of do whatever...Avalon could be Trance, Techno, House or pretty much anything on a given night. Just keep checking here for the latest up to the minute information on LA nightlife. :)
