what I was whining about :p is that it 'revolves' around women, 'it' meaning the shift to more fluff music.

Great article on Marquee, Vegas if I can find it, pretty much sums up the commercial part of the edm industry. Play the music that the chix will dance to, guys will go to those types of events to pick up, dance with, look at etc and they will buy bs (bottle service) to woo them, etc. Not all of the industry is bottle service but the prominent shift resulting in more sponsors and shrinking dancefloors, bigger vips is byproduct of it.

I cynically said earlier the shift revolves around bottles and models but it is the kind of 'safe' music that 'works' more in clubs, big parties, attracting a bigger swath of paying customer, including 'higher end' chicks with bad taste in music.. and there happens to be a lot more of those than the opposite.

/failed and jaded psuedo clubber :p

that isn't how it really works. I mean that is how clubs work but trust me, those girls will dance to anything and would probably prefer top 40. For them, the attention is the pay off. Knowing that guys go to clubs and sort of turning that repressed american sexuality into some form of teasing. That is what it is about. Also clubs don't seem to understand certain styles of music appeal to certain ages. Once again the dance scene is ed up in this regard because you have no bearing. The dj is 45, the patrons are in their 30s, the music is probably meant for young 20 year olds.

My girlfriend hangs around those sort of girls. They go out to be looked at. They are wearing 2000$ dresses lb shoes and the only thing in their purse is cosmetics and for them the experience is being treated like a princess while being as big of a bitch as possible. They would much rather be listening to pop. I do think there are alot of girls that really do or would like it but they are younger. Because of the work i do, it happens that I have to go to a club where you should be younger than 35. A bunch of rich 40 -50 year olds have a VIP section listening to music they hate trying to feel younger feeling really cool and important because it is a business meeting but in a club. Might as well make a banner that says "BIG DECISIONS BEING MADE IN THE VIP" It is pathetic and painful to watch. I honestly can't say i've had a good club experience in years. Everything good is private.

Bottle service is something i don't get. Unless we are talking champagne but it is always some form of vodka and a chaser. Again, something i have only ever seen in american clubs and anywhere persians hang out. I always found serving yourself sort of ghetto.

I find NA outside of Quebec ed up in this regard. It is essentially a market. Repressed females getting ed up to drown the shame of and a new breed of male that has no respect for anything lining up to get a ticket.

I don't mind Clubs being critical on how you look and providing a sexy environment but it should go both ways. A place where males and females are equal. I've experienced this in Europe, a few times in montreal and thats it. One thing you can't fake is style. And that is what clubs should put a premium on. I swear sometimes i wish i could pull some guys from the dance floor. Some serious murder on the dance floor.

And to be quite honest, if you are going to have a bunch of guys around, might as well just go to a gay club. Better music, they smile more. and it is just a better atmosphere. Although I can understand how they don't particularly like the females that go to escape the douche bags and then the resulting douche bags that come and follow them. Except if it is a gay afterhours. I once tried to differentiate the tracks being played and in my concentration noticed someone had given me a handjob. But that is a personal thing. I mean i like handjobs, by a female if possible, and deep house, i don't get. I mean there is no amount of drugs i could take that would make that exciting.

anyways we both agree on what works for clubs.. these giant events are like bigger clubs now.. clubs we always hear safe music and girls are always first ones on dancefloor or vip booths, tables, grinding to each other sometimes  :p

These events are playing it safe too, booking the same types of djs and the djs themselves are playing it safe too, playing the same type of radio play music.

Thomas Gold at NCG VIP tonight... self raping :(

Would not surprise me in the least. That piece of LMFAO sold it out in lightspeed, and this is stuff that caters to the douches that like that.

lmfao was like 30$ so you got teeny boppers galore

avicii was 40$+ all the way to 80... (how you sit in the blues for an avicii show, i dont know)
im sure SHM will be more expensive than lmfao (and avicii)

GSP was in our VIP section Sat, I missed it, was bustin out to Paskal Daze's sweet beats in the bottom level instead.

The place was packed to the , Mtl finally has its superclub and it's gonna affect a few regular clubs and perhaps the afters too since you can now hear some 'afters' music in the bottom level of NCG, (somewhat). This could be a little bit disconcerting to both Circus and Stereo - same music, earlier hours.

Now back to regularly scheduled programming... SHM selling out ...and selling out..:p

Regardling the latter prospect, this could be a little bit disconcerting to both Circus and Stereo if NCG offers similar music on its bottom level but at earlier hours

Case in point...St. Laurence blvd was ing dead on Saturday night.

I think the clubs will be impacted more than the afters but the afters will feel a bit of impact too... 3000 ppl, that's a lot of clubgoers right there.

Still, NCG can't replicate the vibe you get at Stereo or even the intimacy you have at UN and other clubs that play deeper edm. Its longer term impact should be more clear by next year sometime, imo

Adam420
NCG doesn't compete with Circus or Stereo. Not the same crowd at all. NCG crowd = Crescent and St. Laurent blvd crowd.
Spin Laden
Dozen of us went to Circus after NCG

not the same crowd but still you have some that may go to both NCG and Stereo/Circus, esp from the bottom levels of NCG... again depending on who is spinning.

So far I've seen Buttrich, Sqillace, Maher Daniel, Paskal Daze and Insomnia the two nights I went.

Again, the impact will be small but there still could be one.
