Far as I'm concerned trance is alive and well. Lots of quality DJs have come through NYC this year.

You're complaining about a scene you've never really had a chance to experience yet?

Trance is ... can't really describe it to you , you either connect with it feel it, understand it or you dont.

it's a shame that from like 2009 to right now more than a handfull of great great trance producers and djs "converted"

Most of them have also touched the Electro field. Not just Gereth : )

But you're right to cry out. The problem started when trance was at the clubs peak. i am using trance since you are asking for the trance but it is relevant to any good genre. Club owners got greedy and started to look into who was bringing the most. They started to look into the promoters. See there are two kind of promoters. One's they do it for the talent and ones they do it for the money. This is where it failed. The venue owners looked for that fat cash-cow. So they were interested into the promoters who also wanted the same. two of them paired up and started emerge on top and slowly kill the club scene. Slowly talent was not the main important factor in booking, it was popularity. Of course POP music is the reign king of entertainment at the time. So they started bringing mainstream people into the club. But that wasn't enough. the market has now a demand for radio-fame. Forcing people to start to sell out due to pressure.

i have cried out to this before too.. we all have. that's why you are getting this response. we are shocked to see some one complain now... after all things are butchered. Yes, real trance is not dead but you can't experience it here in US to that big extend anytime soon. There are no new people being converted. When clubs started booking radio music talents it killed the cycle. No new people are converted. People who come for that radio music want the "drop=aka experience within 10 sec" they will never be educated to learn the other genres. They will move on to the next radio-famous person. They are basically a one time costumers. Soon this electro will die out

PVD @ twilo Feb 2001 (Luis diaz opened with the theme song from american beutty remixed... nutz..)
PVD @ Roxy (World ta meet up)
