I hope this is something that will be good for NYC scene. We are long overdue for a new venue here in the city (with no bottle service)
I got this email from MadNotMad the other day
| quote: | | When planets align magic happens, so when we heard that Patrick Bodmer from M.A.N.D.Y. was in town for 2 weeks to work with lifelong friend Philipp Jung on some new music we knew we had to make this happen. So, it is with extreme short notice Mad Not Mad is pleased to announce that M.A.N.D.Y (Get Physical, Berlin) will reunite in NYC this Friday, September 28th at Slate Basement to help celebrate the launch of a very special new, 500 capacity venue. It has been over 3 years since M.A.N.D.Y. performed as a duo in NYC, producing incredible electronic music by consistently selecting productions that induce their audience into a somatic frenzy. On the platform of their aptly titled Get Physical label, M.A.N.D.Y. has achieved m assive success in colluding to create music that simply makes bodies move. Joining M.A.N.D.Y. is special guest and friend Jimmy Vallance, one of the most exciting new acts to release on the boutique label Scissor and Thread. As some of you know, Mad Not Mad has been quitely working behind the scenes to develop a new club in the basement of Slate at 54 West 21st Street, NYC. The venue has been remodeled, a state of the art Funktion One system installed along with some beautiful lighting. If you are fed up with having to choose between the bottle service clubs or the crusty Brooklyn basements then you will probably find this a refreshing happy medium. The vision shared by Mad Not Mad and Slate is to bring a breath of fresh air to NYC's EDM scene, targeting the more discerning of you who enjoy hearing premium talent play at an intimate setting with first class production. This is the soft launch of the club and your chance to see these Berlin legends reunite behind the decks in a shiny new environment. Tickets are available at http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?407427 Limited tickets available at the door. $25/30 I look forward to seeing you all there! Love love, Paul www.madnotmad.net www.facebook.com/getmandy www.physical-music.com www.funktion-one.com |
PS. I'm not starting a event thread, simply starting a convo about the new venue... |

I know you prob don't have this info, but does it have a name yet? Any pics?
This is good news, hopefully it's a good venue that will take over from Good Units. Nothing has really taken over from that spot, there is def a demand for this type of venue. |

It's already ahead of D36 and Sanky's in my book, in that there's no douche bag NYC promoter talking about how it's a "game-changer" that will revolutionize the industry..
Gonna try and check this out! |

if it's the same room that had the bathroom's downstairs
then yea the room was pretty big. it was filled with pool tables
but i can imagine without them being there it will be a good sized room. sort of maybe the size of la passion rouge |

I peeped this and it sucks that it happens to be on the same day as SuperFreq, which I just cannot miss. I would def love to stop by and check it out for a bit but funds are really low these days *waah*
Anyways, I'm eager to see this "happy medium" habitat so reviews of this opening night are much anticipated. |

As long as you don't post an artist, date, flyer, and venue it wont be considered an event thread, no worries ;) |
