Hey guys. You may or may not have heard by now, but last Saturday a man's wheelchair was stolen from a secured place on private property.
He was visiting a friend who's house was not wheelchair accessible so he locked it up outside. When he left the house several hours later, he found his chair missing.
This individual is my Cousin. He has suffered with Muscular Dystrophy from birth and has needed the aid of a wheelchair since the age of 6. Now 25 years old, Raymond tries his very best to live life like a normal 25 year old would. He very smart, sociable, seeking job opportunities, and would like to consider an independent life away from home. Now Ray is confined to his home, and says it will take approx 2 months for a new custom chair to be delivered to his door.
Ray's wheelchair is a custom chair that he got 2 years ago and it costs $15,000! We have started an initiative to collect donations which you can do directly via the website. www.helpraymond.com
CP24 first brought the news to Toronto, and since has been on several stations and newspapers, even reach other cities in Ontario. We would love nothing more than to get the chair back itself, but looks like that isn't going to happen. We are trying our best to make this negative a positive.
It absolutely makes me sick that someone would steal a wheelchair. We've been hoping that someone has had information regarding it's whereabouts, but nothing.
It would mean so much to him if you could take the time to share this story with your family and friends, and if you feel compelled enough to help him in any way, you can visit the website to make donations, or even a simple post on FB or Twitter to let people know that such a despicable thing has taken place. You can follow his progress on Twitter as well at twitter.com/helpraymond or #helpraymond
If you would like to help in any other way, please contact me directly. Once again the website is www.helpraymond.com
Thanks for your time everyone.

Donated...
I get it, people steal, bikes, cars, whatever, it's a fact of life. ty fact, but happens none the less.
But what kind dickless steals a wheelchair?! I mean, even if the person was so strung out on drugs or whatever that their morals or elements of humanity are gone and void, where do they expect to sell this wheelchair? :conf:
Idiots...
Also, is there not insurance for a specialized item such as this? Considering its worth and probably difficulty in getting. |

| UPDATE: Wheelchair has been recovered, however it has been vandalized and doesn't work and not sure how much it's going to cost to fix it. Kind've a sketchy thing how and where it was found, but police are still investigating it's initial disappearance. Thanks for all the support from everyone who helped :) |

| This is a crazy story. I cannot believe what some people will take just because it is there. |
