I was just gonna say the same thing lol It's just Nick trying to troll us (again)
jon jon
also the title of the video is misleading "why Deadmau5 hates dubstep" lol He doesn't hate dubstep, he's just saying how he hates the amateur sound engineering being put into it lately

i honestly wonder how some people can sit there in a chair with a straight face looking at a camera spouting out obvious lies knowing that people will hear it...

i turned it off after he said "i dont make popular dance tunes"
oh ok. because the last few songs haven't been insanely popular with all the grade a windowlickers

and the title of the video is why he hates dubstep
aren't like his two of his new recent tracks pure dubstep?

what a joke

I watched the interview before I posted it, I highlighted what he said below at the 2:20 mark of the interview:

a big success for me at the time, & especially for dance music because at the time it wasn't popular in North America at the moment. The single called "Faxing Berlin"that I had put out we had sold 2000 copies. At the time dance music was so obscure 2000 copies is ing double platinum here on vinyl, which was a obscure market to begin with

He said that Electronic music was obscure in North America in 2007(LOL doesn't Tranceaddict go back further than 2007?). I do not agree with the comments he made, but please feel free to share your point of view.

The video title is not misleading, he says in the video he hates Dubstep, & stated why (because how it sounds). The funny thing is he does not know about Dubstep, he is talking about the Americanized "EDM" version of the people he has signed to his label like Skrillex.

Do you think it is fair to a music community when people such as Deadmau5 start lying in the media about music, scenes, & places to make themselves appear bigger than they are?

Please correct me if I am wrong, but Deadmau5 only got famous after the American Corporations started endorsing him, the same American Corporations who have watered down European Electronic Music?

i think it's more of a question of his integrity and class. i knew him long ago for songs like desynchronized and such (which in my opinion is his true roots - creative and interesting sounds) faxing berlin was his fork in the road. he could continue his "underground route" and try to hustle gigs and what not or chose to go big. it's pretty fairly obvious what hes chosen

some could say he sold out - whatever, i understand people have to make a living and im pretty sure anyone in his shoes would chose the same.

i dont think its necessarily a bad or good thing for the community what he's doing (we already have a stigma) if anything it might have been for the better (at least now we have people listening to his stuff rather then insulting) in the end thou people will listen to what they like and people will make their own choices.

i just was turned off by the video simply because i don't care to be lied to or fed bull. if he wants to speak the truth or tell me something interesting from his perspective i'll listen. dont have time to deal with fake people and

i can't believe i'm saying this but it's the first time i agree with you

Selling 2000 digital copies for one track IS a big success in the beatport / edm world. If you sell like 150 copies you'll be very high in the ranks of beatport charts I believe. I know its sad, but this relative.

Sad times we live in, where some guy who can barely use traktor makes more in a month than a producer does spending possibly hundreds of hours honing his skills and doing production work. It is a reality though... sorry. :D Besides, there are much more real problems out there in the world.
