to me it sounds very emtpy and cold. id lower the the drums, both kick and hihat, add some sub-eqing to the kick (its very midbass) to give it some warmth. most of the leads could be abit higher volume. the big break is waaaaaayyyyyy too long and the snare sound is so 1997. if you raise all the leads it might help your overall track but to me this sounds very old and empty. you could layer another subbass to your baseline, it sounds just like a detuned saw, id add a pulse/square/sine -12 semitones. and then you should probably have a 909 hihat/ride and another lead somewhere. as said its very empty. structure is another thing but that is hard to give advice on.

thanks for the tips....i think im stuck in an old school trance sound ....so you think some warm low end would help?...ill give it a go.... ...im more interested in getting my sound/mixing right.....any tracks you would recommend that capture today (non vocal) i hate the vocal trance out there now, so generic.

Kick is too loud and the way it's mixed it sounds like you're mixing on hifi hear. Or Rokits.
It's not too muddy, but it's a little unbalanced. |

I mixed on hs80 's and a pair of akg 271's with a CL1 soundcard ... When you say hifi do you mean too much stereo? Im listenin to newer stuff now and man the newer trance is very much influenced by house and electro pop .....danile kandi style trance sticks out like a sore thumb... Although i still kandi's style....

If the arrangement was more fleshed out I would be tempted to buy it.

Kick is slightly too loud. It's the loudest thing in the mix, but by way too far. The sounds are a little brittle. Is this mastered or not? It seems like, although there is mid frequency content, the highs dominate quite a bit and that is thnat brittle sound I Was mentioning. I just feel like the mix could be a lot warmer. But there are some good elements in this track so keep it up. Nice job on the chord progression and melody.

mud is what you don't have. Everything has been over eq'd and the result is a lifeless thin mix. And everything is too separate. Usually when you start to think too much on individual channels rather than the mix.
