Mono below a certain frequency

I was looking for a plugin that allows you to make a sound mono under a certain frequency, kind of like what the waves S1 does only you can effect a certain frequency range and leave everything else untouched. Did a bit of googling and found out an "elliptical EQ" does this and also found this plugin called Basslane which seems to do the job. I'm aware you can high pass and low pass 2 instances of the same sound and layer it but I was thinking there would be some overlap and probably some phasing issues with that method.

Anyone use something like this? Ideally for Mac... I'm thinking it would be helpful with basslines that are crazy with the stacking and stereo spread if you could just mono the lower frequencies, or with layering kicks if you want to keep the transients spread out but mono the low end

Basslane is what I use, and it gets the job done.

There is also a freeware tool called Sanford Bass Tightener.

Basslane works, but colours the sound a bit.

Does Sanford bass tightener color the sound as far as anyone knows?

I always do this using M/S eq, I use Waves HiEq, it's one of their newer eq's, but there are many plugins that can mono low frequencies, Brainworx plugs are good for this too.
