Colaboration - Self-contained .ALS file does not share samples

The file is 2.5mb, so it is encapsulating the data for the samples as far as I can tell, however, whenever I load up the ALS file, everything loads except for the samples. The notice appears that there are 47 samples missing. My friend has version 8.0.1 and I have 8.2.2. He has done collect and save properly.

I am under the impression that this is a version/compatibility issue. Please help!

So in other words, your friend won't shell out the cash for a legit copy?

the samples won't be loaded in the .als file. You need to .zip the entire project folder and then re-share, which should keep your project intact.

Get something started. I'll throw in on it.

Well, I have self-contained and emailed myself copies of ALS files and they always work. Why is this any different? So just zip the folder and the ALS file together? What if the project folder is empty except for the ALS file?

save as in a whole new place, keep it simple, try desktop or your root director

then click collect and save

your project file will have all the necessary samples

zip

repeat

Yea, your samples for this project are probably being saved in another location. Like the other person said. Resave the project file to your desktop and that should keep all your samples in that specific folder. If you ever look in your project folders you'll see that Ableton creates a "samples" folder (imagine that!) that shows what's been "processed" , "recorded" and something else. That being the reason that your bro can't open the file because the .als file and folder, doesn't have your samples. Follow our steps, open that file, and make sure the samples are there. Then you'll be set.

I'll tell my friend.

Squee!! I'll get back to you in about 2-3 weeks, working on some important things. In the meantime we have to think of our name, it is the most important thing afterall. Something that lets people know we like to catch.
