I know.... Whatever you 're happy with right?.

Most people though, prefer laptop based mixing because of it's beatmatching and quantize functionallity. Large portion of the current "DJ's" can't even manually put 2 tracks in sync anymore. That's why CDJ's sort of always seperated the men from the boys. Sync button pushers could not work with CDJ's

Now, with the new 2000Nexus the only thing seperating them is how deep their pockets are. And whether you can align a track manually is no longer relevant, or considered critical skill, it's no longer "cheating" it's now marketed as taking out the dumb work and save time. Reality is, with the sync button, manufacturers injected hypergrowth into the WANNABEE DJ market. Spend 200€ and a laptop and you can be recognized by friends as DJ. you can even make your own flawless mx tapes.

DJ'ing has become very accessable, and it no longer requires skill, just music taste. Even taste is debateable as 99% just runs with the latest Beatport top 100 and top40 torrentz.....

Yeah thats true, if only the Tech1210 M5G had a HD/USB (or Ipod Dock [Cheezy i know] ) stick it would be amazing and you can kiss traktor goodbye. It would lower the signal path and have better accuracy in sound and less noise. Beatgridding on traktor is not always 100% precise. You can tell if the kicks are perfectly aligned or not. i'll never go that route. Ableton is much better for that anyway.

The only thing I wish the M5G had (and always wondered if is at all possible as a modification) is a digital pitch readout. It's not a huge deal, I know, but I think it would make turntable DJing a lot more welcoming.

If you think having the sync button delivers flawless mixes, then you need 5 years more of training. not too mention stuff like phrasing, and seuch.

I've also seen people playing with the aided use of a beatcounter, for at least.. i dunno.. 2000ish, I guess is where they started getting useable.. I actually overheard a guy say "how am i supposed to mix without a bpm counter?". hopefully he never got a gig again.

my friend was the first in the country to get to buy a pair, or so he said.. and he practiced and practiced and practiced, and through a common friend we got a gig. and my numark wielding-friend had a hell of a time getting stuff beatmatched on the clubs 1210's when he was used to the 2-ton torque of the TTX's.

They had a comical fault whereby they'd think the platter wasn't on the deck when it actually was, and hence wouldn't start playing as a "safety precaution"... the result of over-sensitive sensors for a completely unnecessary feature.
