A question: Is Kenya and Tanzania less crime-ridden than South Africa?
I once read in magazine that you're less likely to be robbed in Lagos than in Barcelona. |
I don't know. But I know that in SA the blacks ing hate whites. That's a giant generalization, but it's not many years since you could hear "Kill the boer" being chanted in the streets..
That being said, I know that Kenya and Tanzania has a larger wild bush/city ratio, so it should in theory be safer. Plus you'd probably be trekking with guards/guides if you were going to those countries.
Edit: Kenya has high rate of crime all across the board, while in Tanzania theres more of the pick-pocket/petty crime that's prominent, although they too do have they share of 'smash&grabs' @ intersections etc. |

| I spent a month or so in Kenya and yeah, it can get rather dangerous. However, if you have your wits about you and you're sensible, you should be fine. |

I have no idea what you should do, but I know a few things you shouldn't do. These are more for SA in general, rather than Cape Town specifically, but it's not that different from the rest of the country tbh.
-If you're driving and you come to an intersection, absolutely don't be in the lane closest to the pavement.
-Don't go to black neighbourhoods. Srsly
-Don't go out at night
-Never go out alone
-Don't wear anything fancier than like Adidas. Chances are you'll get robbed then too, but at least they won't get your nice clothes.
-Don't send teh letter |
i was in cape town during the world cup and was totally fine, some of the most polite people i have ever met, obvs you stay away from the slums/rough areas but that's expected everywhere, plus its so segregated there you prob wont have an issue, |

He was very special to these forums at one point. Have a good time baldie, just don't wear any skin tight and/or stone washed jeans. You might send out mixed signals to them blacks, South Africans are weird like that. |

I went with the British Army, I did a week of adventure training (white water rafting, hiking, climbing etc), a week on safari, a week on desert exercises and a week in the jungle, training in jungle warfare and survival, with the SAS....... and also the odd few days in some towns, villages and in Nairobi. |
