As a person that's tried to maintain an EDM blog, I will tell you it's quite hard. Hard to find quality stuff to write about, and hard to get a community going. There are lots of people that go to EDM shows and rage, but when it comes to actually being interested in the music, the DJs behind it, etc., there are much fewer people in that camp. A lot of them are on this board. You will see that a lot of the comments on DA are similar to the comments on DJ's FB posts:

"DAMN can't wait for Ultra! Gonna rage my face off!"
"Wow this post is ing stupid, u, David Guetta is way better"
" avicii, he's so mainstream"

Nothing thoughtful, most of the time. And the posts themselves are oftentimes not thoughtful - "hey here are 5 cool tracks that we like!" "hey here are some reviews... of east coast shows only!"

That being said, DA is trying to legitimize the scene at least a little bit, and I respect them for that. I think that if people were more involved (the readers), the content would be better too, but I gave up on that long ago. The scene is "growing" but not really from the perspective of people wanting to learn more about the DJs or the music. Just more people wanting to get ed up at shows. For every 100 new attendees of EDC or Ultra, 1-2 of them will actually go home and read blogs, etc. That's what it seems like to me. I feel like I'm the EDM historian or something. Most of my friends who are in the scene still don't really know much besides when the next show is.

Well said.

Many times my passion for all things EDM goes away entirely for some of the reasons stated above. I respect anyone trying to run their own EDM oriented site/blog/etc. because it takes a lot of work to get noticed. For the most part, the scene is full of fly-by-nighters who start up a blog/fan page and then spam themselves everywhere and offer little in terms of content.

For years nothing pleased me more than posting livesets and the occasional single for download on TA - to provide exposure to the artist(s) / etc. All that came crashing down one day (a very long time ago) when I gave up fighting against people wanting to sue me/shut me down for having mp3s (I wanted to make sure the forum kept going at all costs) - so, I stopped those updates. Now, looking around, in a mixcloud/soundcloud world, it's laughable that I ever got in trouble for that.

We are spoiled with easy access to music these days... and as long as you have the music that's all that matters -- reading about it/researching it is reserved for the select few die hards who give a a . Nothing wrong with getting your 'rage' on but for many it's just the natural progression to binge drinking. lol

Nero is a master. I try to push his buttons once in while but end up getting burnt in the end.
