One thing I gleaned from this article, the use of Mixcubes.
I identify with how Claude feels about mixdown and the other boring stuff. The best part is playing, creating the music. A Maschine might be in my future. I'm not used to recording instead of sequencing. I do a little of that already (guitar and FX), but I don't think I'd like recording everything then chopping up. It's an interesting thought though.
Just listened to some Claude on youtube. That's minimal house? I can't stand it, yuck!

This is something I don't get:

And you do all your own mixing as well?
Yeah. I would love to not be doing that though, because that's the part that kills me. The mixdown is actually taking more days than the creation of the song. Because [technology enables you to do] everything now, you do everything. It's three different jobs actually—making the song, mixing the song, and then mastering the song—and you can't be amazing at all three of those jobs unless you're an absolute genius. It sucks that everybody is doing all three of those jobs now. In the best-case scenario, you would just be creative 100% of the time, and the first part is where you'd put all of your energy. Then you'd go to a studio with a guy or girl you trust and they'd do the mixdown with you, but you wouldn't be spending tons of brainpower on it. Then you'd send it off to your mastering person, which is something I actually do. That's part of the downside to the fact that we can do everything now—everybody is kind of medium-good at everything instead of being really good at just one of those jobs.
Surely he is not short of a grand or two so what's stopping him from doing just the creative work and then paying someone else do the parts he hates like mixing and mastering?

Not a bad move to LA I guess. Nice to see he's not moving to Berlin, not because I hate the place (which I don't), but because anyone who makes techno just seems to move there. I wish him luck, the US market loves brogressive and brostep, I get the impression that those folks don't like techno. I personally would like to see more techno as headliners in festivals.

I don't see him making much money at all. It is virtually unknown to anyone outside of djs. I refer to fat people as it.
tehlord
There are many EDM producers far better known than him who still have day jobs.
I'm stunned he has as much gear as he has tbh.

from who ? Sometimes i think you need to talk to someone that isn't in EDM and just ask them about certain artists. This guy is not making money from his tracks. They aren't commercial enough for licensing, they aren't accessible for normal people that would buy it on itunes. His only audience are djs that like to play obscure music.
