it's so funny going back to this music 13 years later and realizing how incredibly simple it is.

Maybe in USA, where it takes (or used to) ages for something european to register.

This song has been out since at least 98?

thanks to Armin I got into trance. "Communication" got me into his sound. Take a listen to "Boundaries of Imagination" for some perspective.

I'd say that up until maybe 2007 or so... he was quite entertaining, but then he quickly became a pop brand. Every once in a while he throws his (remaining) trance fans a bone and plays a decent set or two - which is smart business move on his part.
Sleightful
All things aside, ATB was one of the ones that got me into trance, alongside Armin, Tiesto, Oakenfold, van Dyk. Of course his music is a bit cheesy but back in the day it was a gateway into the genre I guess.
Fledz
Always loved his stuff. It was and still is super cheesy, but that's half the fun. Music was a lot more free and experimental in the 90s as opposed to the over engineered, brick wall stuff you get today.

I inevitably ran into him when I was like 13 and attempting to discover more music online (thanks Limewire!). I liked Ecstasy and 9 PM, but could never get into anything else. Was never my brand of vodka.

Watching the music video for Ecstasy for the first time in years, though, is damn hilarious.
Scoops
the 1st IN THE MIX comp was very solid. It had a lot of solid tunes on it...

I had a chance to meet him at EDC in NJ a few months ago. Very humble and was very apprciative of his fans. Hung out for awhile and signed autographs, took pics with everyone.

Guilty Pleasure.....

His chillout/ambient pieces are listenable but his pop isn't.

"Lol, ATB?", what are you, 12?

Even when I enjoyed cheesy eurodance most of his stuff was too much for me. He was a crowdpleaser though, always had a couple of tracks by him just in case.

Nope, I was only 6 or 7 years old back in 1999 :)

I forgot about Sunset Girl, but I like that song too. It's probably heaps and leagues ahead of most of his other tracks.

Anybody else like "It's a Fine Day?" I recall people used to love that song. It's feels the same as any other of his songs though.
