Got there a few minutes after 2:00 am, they weren't taking people in since he was the only Dj playing and I guess he wasn't completely set-up. They opened the doors around 2:30ish. I expected a slow start with some deep house but he played techy stuff from the beginning itself. I personally really enjoyed his mixing but the flow of the set lacked a bit. He would smash it with 2-3 bangers then bring the energy down with a slower track. He was consistent with that approach for the whole part I caught. Not a lot tracks with the signature Tenaglia drums. For a techno set there were quite a few tracks with vocals. He surely played a lot of the tracks he would have played for sensation NYC. There was a track with "sensation" vocals. That was a give-away! Lol!
Crowd capacity was the max at around 5:00 am, for the part of the night I was there. I stuck it out till around 8:30 am. I was too sober to stay any longer. Hectic work schedule, travel to Montreal and pre-partying at a venue before Stereo took a toll on me. I didn't manage to stay anywhere close to what I planned but it was as great 6 hours musically. Can't complain! |

he did the samr thing back in aug for the most part
his first 2 hours he built the set up properly then after that for a while it was just 3 hard relentless songs then boom he killed the vibe for a lil then built it back up
altho around at 9am he played some crazy hard afterhours tribal for a good hour ha ha
and a few hours here and there he was pretty consistant but for the most part yea thats dt up in montreal i hear.
he will be playing nyc this weekend with liebing so i hope he just brings it on hard

I bet he will bring it on hard! It will be straight-up TECHNO! He seems pretty hyped about the gig. Should be a different sound from what he normally plays at Pacha. You're in for a tread bud! Enjoy! :D |

| So according to D.T., Stereo was his first time using Traktor in a club. That might explain why according to some people, some of his transitions were poor. |

In his defense, 12 hr + sets is a bigggg cd book lol. Guess with age comes the need for help lol. As for poor transitions, not sure what to make of that |

I guess this post will instill drama into some meta and or elitist dj's, but this is my response.
I like it when you can hear the dj push the record with his finger causing an obvious pitch change. I like when they are struggling to beatmatch but gets there eventually on-point. Although the future seems to be picture perfect digital mixes, never forget about the past because there will be always room for everything. Be open and creative with your mediums imo, enjoy the anomalies, benefits and quirks. They call me positive patty. |
