| What up fellow TA peeps? Fellow Chicago TA here. Haven't been to Vegas in about two years, and my friends and I are planning to go in March of next year (2013) for some March Madness. Of COURSE we want to stay in the nicest hotel, the newest pool scene and get in touch with the promoters for the best nights. Any info you can shoot my way? Looking for any places you have stayed recently that you would recommend to your best friend, and the nights that you would tell someone not to miss. Thanks in advance! |

| i guess that depends ... your handle is 'prognut' which begs the question whether you want to hear some really good music in vegas, or you just want to go to the biggest most popular club nights? if the former, you may be in trouble aside from perhaps drai's afterhours or artisan, or the random schulz, etc. stop through. if the latter, it's too early to say, by march 2013 there will probably be some new club that doesn't even exist yet :) |

For the few that know me, I want a GOOD night of music. I know Vegas likes the cues and popular stuff, but I want to show my friends that Vegas is THE next club city. The only Flo Rida I want to see/hear is when I'm walking by him in the casino. HAHA. I agree...still a bit early to tell. We are mainly going out for the books and basketball games during the day. Great club nights/ pool parties while we are there are a bonus. If you went this weekend, where would you go?
FYI: I was a HUGE progessive head back in the day, which is where 'prognut' came from. I appreciate an amazing DJ that can tweak my head like JD or the latter. I'm not a candy, follow the "number one" DJ because they are up there. To be honest, if Darin Epsilon, our fellow Chicago and LA TA played all weekend, I would never leave. Thanks for the reply! |

| It really depends on who's playing. Marquee and XS are the top 2 clubs in Vegas right now but both have pluses and minuses so I usually decide based on who is playing there. I'd say Marquee tends to have better lineups but XS is a better venue for GA. If you're doing bottle service, either one is good. As far as pool parties, I don't think they are open in March yet, but if they are - same thing - XS and Marquee are the top 2, with Wet Republic and Rehab at Hard Rock coming in 2nd (IMO). Tao Beach and Tao nightclub occasionally have good dance music (ex: ferry and markus b2b during edc week) but as venues they are not as great. |

I agree with msilin in regards to comparing XS and Marquee.
I'd pick Marquee over XS. Granted people say XS is bigger, but I was there the last week of March of this year and it was so cramped because it was so cold and windy outside, everyone tried to stay indoors. So I would say during cold weather, XS and Marquee are about the same size. Marquee has a slight edge when it comes to more of a musically enthusiastic scene. The focus is more on the DJ whereas with XS - the DJ is just there playing music.
As mentioned, being that it is March when you're visiting, the pool party scene might not be open yet. It really depends on the weather in Vegas.
For hotels..I would definitely stay at the Cosmopolitan, the decor itself is all sorts of awesome and the location is pretty center to everything. It's nice and modern and totally caters to a younger over the top crowd and of course its home to Marquee. |

| Just stayed at the Venetian Suite last month with my girlfriend. Place is really nice and can fit quite a few friends if they don't mind sleeping on the floor/couch. |

Awesome! Yeah, I wouldn't mind the pool party IF it's nice enough. But mainly where to stay and hit the scene music-wise. These are all great. I have another friend that also mentioned the Cosmopolitan, and that place looks great online. Thanks for the input Karen!

Cool! I'll check that out as well! Doesn't Mandalay Bay have one of the better sports book areas? I know we want to find some cool places to watch the games while we bet on them. Thanks Gemini!

Cosmo is Hands Down the best spot to stay at, if you can do it you will not be disappointed.
As far as good music.... hmmmm better hope Darin is playing some where or Markus Schulz. Otherwise you will get the same stuff on BPM XM/Sirius almost everywhere.
Marquee can be fun, IF you can get on the dance floor. Otherwise you need a table.
If no table be prepared to do the security guard shuffle.
March is a long way away and with Vegas, everything can change by then. |

For sure. Thanks Stern for the input. You guys are making this easy. I know/remember all the fun getting into places when I went last, so tables or knowing people is still the way to go for us. Thanks again.

Coolest sportsbook is the Lagasse Stadium in the Palazzo Hotel.
As far as place to stay, Cosmopolitan in your best bet!
MGM is opening a new club New Years Eve called Hakassan. Rain is closing this weekend, remodeling and opening with a new name next year.
SLS Hotel will be opening in 2014 in place of Sahara Hotel. |
