How to make this trance lead..

So, I'm sure people all over have asked for this before, but I really don't know what to search for. How can I make this preset which has been very popular in trance lately? I've found some presets in Nexus and Sylenth1 which are alike, but I want to know how to design them in my synth and make it in my own style. You can find this sound is these tracks:

Shogun - Skyfire (1:15)

Cosmic Gate & Arnej - Sometimes They Come Back For More (1:50)

Faruk Sabanci & Mark Sixma - Starburst (3:31)

Jonas Stenberg - Emo Dist (Wezz Devall Remix) (1:04)

Hopefully someone can help! :D

Uhm.. If you found Sylenth1 presets, what's keeping you from analyzing them?

Are you sure it's Sylenth making that sound? Tone2 Gladiator has a harsh character similar to that. I can't make heads or tails though. Sorry.
If it's a very popular sound then someone might have tried to replicate it as part of a soundset being sold on ProducerLoops.com or DanceMidiSamples.com

The Sylenth1 preset is almost similar, but it's more of a distorted guitar sound. I'm sure it's possible to make that sound in Sylenth1, I just want to have a guide for which knobs I have to tweak to get it.

The resonance curve modulator.

Use a square, triangle or sine wave (whichever suits your taste)

A tiny bit of pitch envelope so the pitch slight bend for a tiny portion of the attack / decay stage. This is the tricky bit and needs care.

Turn up the resonance (in the filter section)

Now add some distortion - you will find the free distortion units from acmebargig to be excellent - there were a few free downloads last time I checked

Now puch it through some sort of valve emulation / saturation fx

Add the right reverb

Guide on Sylenth 1:

preset--> Hands up detroit or smth like that, add some release both in part A and B (around 7.0 on part B) , change part 1 to sine form. You can tweak other things a bit to get more shape but this is the basics.

Now on the effect chain: Stereo Delay Effect -->Compressor with moderate atack.

Done. I attach you a rough draft, needs a bassline, eq color and some tweaks, has too much delay aswell but this is how it would look in a minute. The Cosmic Gate lead is a bit trickier, you'll need to sidechain the tail and use some automation to get that effect. Bass is very important too.

Thanks guys, I'll try out what you said and if the result is good I'll post a preview here :) If anyone else found a tutorial on how to make this sound, please feel free to share!

or a ing broom stick

The sound is made with square wave pluck, pre and post filter distortion.
One wave will do but i suppose you can add a sub pulse wave as well.

Some are not modulating the filter with an envelope and tend to sound a little cleaner ie the cosmic gate one.

Tweaked a little in Sylenth1 and got a quite similar sound :) It's not there yet, but I feel I'm getting close!

not even close.

Square wave with. pre filter distortion - lp filter with short decay no sustain enveloppe. more distortion. done.

using synlenth. Done. Granted there is always things you can add to make it different but this will get you 95% there.

Modulate the pitch or phase with a very fast LFO as well, just a little.

I can almost guarantee the first two are a preset from the Virus, which does this kind of thing really well.
