To be fair, the founder did say they were going for a classier crowd. He mentioned they didn't want to go for the afrojack crowd and that his favorite dj is Danny T. |
The problem is that's exactly what they got, the Afrojack crowd. Most of the old school guys aren't paying nearly $180 for a ticket to see a one hour Tenaglia set. Not only that, but they're too full of themselves to sell out to a major festival like Sensation, because that crowd would rather be in a dark club with a few hundred people. |

| The old school crowd is that.... old. We don't go out as much anymore. We're old now and our priorities have changed. That's one reason why veteran DJ's like Digweed & Danny T are having a hard time selling out clubs in LA. |

but sometimes as a promoter, you have to take risks. some risks work some don't. I think Sensation had some big ballz to put on a massive and actually have dj's that play good music.
This "rage" music is the hot right now but at one point, someone took a risk with it too. |

Looking at the pix and watching the videos it didn't seem as sardine crowded. There seemed to be plenty of room to move around.
The founder said he flew in over 70 people from Europe and that all the dancers & performers are all from Sensation Europe. He said he wanted to bring the European experience to the USA instead of creating a US tailored one.
It was a very good interview & behind the scenes/making of video. His partner & co-founder died in a car accident before the first Sensation. So he asked everyone to wear white in honor of him. And bam! Sensation White was born.

I am not a house music fan - commercial or deep house - but i totally would go for the experience and just to have a good time. I miss the old sensation lineups but glad they brought this to the states and it was a success. And glad to see they are still pursuing Vegas (and miami and LA). They wanted Vegas for some time now.
Neat to see Livenation fully endorse this and with open arms. Yea its money. But to the scene and the image of electronic music in general this is huge. When it is presented at Times Square you know things are changing. And probably going against this forum here, but I like it. |

LMAO.... Love how they're interviewing people walking into Sensation and they ask "What DJ Brought You Here?" lol Their answer... "I DUNNO." LMAO!!! Not a single person has answered the question. No one could name a single DJ playing... Why am I not surprised? LOL
:haha: :haha: :haha: |
i posted this exact thing as my status last night as i watched the broadcast!! absolutely not surprised at all! i was dying laughing and the interviewing hosts SUCKED!!! i dont know who was worse, them from last night or emily tan who does the sirius WMC interviews. how theyre employed to do those jobs is beyond me. and the male interviewer kept asking every one and every DJ the same awkward tough to answer questions. im watching tonight for DT and 2000andone and thats it. |

| I dont think we have a large stadium like those in europe. Remember, they use many of them for soccer as well. In general, even concerts are on a larger scale there. Many shows there are in stadiums. here they are in our hockey/nba arenas. |

| I think the only way to get a proper venue for Sensation would be a NFL stadium, but that seems like overkill for over here, even for a mainstream act like Justin Bieber or something lol. NHL/NBA stadiums just have way to small of a floor for it. |

Yes -- in Europe, they are in football (soccer) stadiums, which are huge typically.
Here in the US, they threw it in an NBA/NHL arena, which is (floor wise) very small.
IIRC, in Europe they only use the first tier of seats (and the floor of course) at most venues. It looked like they were using all the seats and the floor just to try and reach 20K here. From what I've read the venue holds only about 18K in normal configurations. |
