Hi folks,

Been a long time since I posted some music here. Working with a new studio set up and not sure about monitoring so it might sound too biased in terms of high freqs.

Give it a listen and let me know what you think. I'm not expecting this to set your world on fire but it's a step back for me after some challenging times.

you were right about the 16k hz+ freqs - a little too much crisp shimmer when i ran it thru the vrm box settings. Melody is fine for run of the mill trance. nothing wild as you said, but you clearly have decent arrangement and sound design base knowledge. Looks like you need to get back on the horse my friend! welcome back

That early intro before the sub bass drops is very evocative and I love the midd bassline there. The whole track is evocative and atmospheric and conveys a lot of emmotion.

It is a bit sharp on the ears and I think the sub / low bass is a bitt boomy on small speakers, but otherwise I enjoyed this one.

Glad yer back.

Nice track, but sounds a bit "hollow" not enough body and a bit hyped above 10khz, seems you' re compensating for your room indeed

Good way to check it listen a reference track and your track on an ipad or smartphone and listen to the difference in "colour"

Hey guys,

Thanks for listening.
I have also listened back to this and realised that appart from it not being my best creative work, the mix was ing horrible. It still isn't great to be honest as I realise that my monitor setup was largely influencing the way I worked with and created patches so it's partly poor choice at some of the frequency ranges.

I have however cleaned it up as I went and got my headphones out of storage and that made a world of difference. I have also spent some time on getting some treatment for the room. Still not there but in a better place now.

Hey Rich,
Yup it's been a while and one hell of a journey at that. Even went back into the ol' American Football for one last season and ended up winning a national championship which isn't too shabby by my reconing.

Good to be back and feel free to check out the updated version.

Yeah, had to update it, were a lot of things I wasn't happy with.
Very bog standard and uncreative when I listen back to it.

I enjoyed listening to the changes you made between each of the updates. It's nice to here the changes between and see how they improved the over all feel of the song. Helps as I put my own stuff together.

sounds nice on the laptop - very nice

i like the atmospheric reverb/depth you have to the track

Hey guys, thanks for checking this out.
As I said in my opening comments was working in a situation where my monitor set up was sub optimal so I think the track is still too bass heavy and the highs could be worked on.

But thank you for listening.

I really like this tune. Definitely had a nostalgic appeal as the context I imagined for it was toward the beginning of a DJ set at effort to build anticipation. It's understated, in this regard, rather than clobbering you over the head in the way AoT's "Madagascar" did. Nevertheless, it has an energy to it that drew me into it. In the context with the other songs you've posted recently, it kind of lends itself to a sort of edginess in its mixing aesthetic. Definitely not a brutal ride, by any stretch, but still a gentle nudging of that envelope.

Nice work, sir.
