been outta the loop for a while
i finally got tv back yesterday and wow iam finally starting to see some destruction pics and vids it is out of this world.

i see alot of people posting questions about the subways and such.
for those that dont know me i work for the mta repairing the subways, now iam no spokes man for them i am just here to tell you what i know.

once power is restored in lower manhattan the N & Q trains can ride over the bridge again, to finally transport people from bk to manhattan.

i wish i had better news about people who take the R train. the tube connecting bk to manhattan is flooded. i seen whitehall/south ferry station with my own eyes and the amount of water in there is beyond anything i though could ever happen.

there are a few other stations down there with the same problem. i also heard word of maybe them opening up the #2 train from bk to manhattan but dont quote me.

i have been working crazy hours at work trying to help out as much as i can
i worked sunday at 8pm all the way to tuesday 12 noon, followed by 12-16 hour shifts everyday after that.
i hope over the weekend and by early next week most subway service will be back to somewhat normal situations, but there is still some places in lower manhattan that wont be back for a while.

my advice to people is do as much helping as you can. donate to red cross, city harvest etc etc or just volenteer
this is nyc people, as much as we bitch and moan about it at the end of the day it is the place we call home
i hope we call can pull thru and keep our heads up.
i should have my internet back up by monday. so if i hear anything else on the subways i will keep you guys posted

I had no power for 3 days, thank goodness for fam. I waited on a car line for an hour to fill up my tank. All said and done I am lucky and grateful compared to others. It's crazy speaking to some nyc peeps , some are oblivious to the reality of this storm. In my opinion this is worse than other tragedies in the past, I'll omit my examples. This storm creates a generation of homeless and destroyed lives, I'm really sad for my adopted state of Jersey. My street is the only one with power in my neighborhood , this morning I saw people sleeping in their cars for heat. I already had 3 stranger families in my house for a warm meal ( if they accepted) and an hour to charge their devices and to reach out to fam and work. This was a moving experience, and they better have cancelled that ing marathon. Keep your spirits up and remember your neighbors, that's all we really have. Family and compassion , that's what seperates us from the 'animals'.

That being said I'm getting trashed tonight grateful for what I have and for those that don't

I've been out of the loop as well. I have had no power all week and it doesn't look any better as of tonight. I heard it might take another week before I get power back.

Running generators in my house for my fridges have taken a lot of my time. I don't even have heat at my house or cable/internet.

And getting gasoline at new jersey? It took me few hours to fill a 5 gallon this morning.

This is really screwing with all my plans this weekend too. Its hard going out to the city from NJ when you have no gas ;-/

I know people have worse problems but this is so inconvenient.

I have no electricity/internet at my house, last night was unbelievably cold. I could see my breath as i laid in bed. All the hope I had in getting my power back soon is gone. My sisters friend who's father is a city worker said that my area MAYBE get power back by Friday. From what I've been hearing, there is another storm (possibly snow) approaching for Wednesday. If we're not already ed, my area is going to be even more ed.

The worst part about everything is the lack of support we've been getting from my local government. Yesterday (11-3) they set up a meeting at the recreation center in front of my house. I thought okay good, they are probably going to talk about the current situation in our area (Linden, NJ btw)...Nope it was a god damn election meeting, talking about the ing candidates....like wtf, who cares about that right now..

I had to vent for a bit. I have a 1/5th of my tank right now and used it to drive up to campus to charge my laptop and phone.

Sorry for all those still without power- stay strong and use the help that is out there. I just donated clothes and food here at Ridgefield park- hopefully it gets to those that need it soon.
