My Nomination For Producer Of The Year 2012

Unless someone else has a breakout year, I'm going with Avatism as my #1 draft pick for 2012.

Why I like his music so much: He's not exactly in techno, house, or minimal. He's somehow straddling all 3. He's using a different percussion palette than most modern producers who make this type of music. Drums that sound like they came from a real drum set. His tracks move and change in the way that you want them to. You can long mix the out of his music and play his tracks into one another for hours. Its mesmerizing. I saw him live in a church and he murdered everyone in the place at like 117bpm. The view count on last video I posted below is 713,000. That's ing incredible for someone in as small of a niche as he is.

His most legit tracks (IMO):

DOOMBOT
That's right. A church.

I agree. Its really subtle but I like how the drums boom-bap in a few places during that track. Its just so tight.

Mark I'm surprised you didn't nominate Joey Anderson. You are familiar with his work right?

You don't say!

Oh come on, he released two whole EPs this year. IMO to qualify as producer of the year you have to be all over the place.

But since I can't think of anyone with a huge amount of output this year I'll nominate ACR. He had that that ridiculous remix of that Dettmann track earlier this year and just dropped two (yes, two) absolute killer EPs on MDR at once.

Adam420
Who Joey? He appeared on a number of VA releases as well. Unless you were referring to Avatism.

But yea ACR is a good pick. Also I'd say Bleak but I think I nominated him last year. Rivet's been really good. Markus Suckut has been around for a few years but really cemented his status in 2012. There's also some Romanian producers like Cristi Cons and TC Studio that did some really nice stuff this year.

Actually, one of my nominations has to be Xosar. Also for hottest female producer.

I agree that in the industrial sweaty dark techno realm, Answer Code Request is something special. I have to give this EP a 5/5

The new one on Deconstruct is completely awesome. Other than that I only saw that he had a couple EP's. Are you being serious that you like him or were you being sarcastic to me in some way that I did not pick up on?

How is that EP dark sweaty industrial techno? It's future garage, if anything.

I like him because his stuff has that 1993 UK ambient techno vibe which is badly lacking these days.

I have a bunch of his stuff so yes I like it. Not all of it but yes there's some cool stuff. Check out his 3200 B.C. House Dancer EP. Highly recommended.
