newsflash:
facebook is an optional, free website and they don't owe you or anybody else anything, so quit ing whining. quite frankly they can do whatever they want. personally it just goes to show how dumb people are who invest so much time and energy in their facebook presence. |

| Woah, you're really ing smart man, thanks for pointing that out. You would be dumb not to harness the powers of it, but its pretty much dead for now, for me at least. |

you're right, but at the same time, don't build something on one premise and then change it without telling people.
ultimately, it's facebook screwing themselves; As a business owner that uses FB, I'm going to put less emphasis on FB marketing as I'll only reach 15% of my base and as the article points out, there's simply no point paying the sums they;re asking for.
it basically means that anything smaller than a massive international conglomerate is going to downgrade FB as a priority in terms of marketing, which ultimately means FB becomes less useful and less used.
It seems Zuckerberg is really ing it up since the IPO. |

no, i would be dumb to invest all my energy and have my entire presence based on one third party site over which i have 0 control, and then bitch about it when they (inevitably) change their policies. |

| Thats true, but its just a piece of a puzzle. It was a nice piece though, RIP. Its kind of more intimate than most other social network platforms, also can be more genuine. Having a website wouldn't offer this same service, I dont see why they cant make enough money on ads or something on the side. I think many would consider a smaller type yearly fee if it came down to it. It has a big convenience. Honestly its a good tool, but their greed just ed it up and hope it costs them instead. |

i am not denying it has its purpose in 2012.
but the simple truth is facebook pages will not be relevant in 5 years. and on whatever site takes its place, guys armin and tiesto will have their fans flock over immediately, while that kid who spent 2 years doing nothing but building up his facebook "fans" will be back at square 0.
conclusively, it would be a better investment of one's time to find a way to actually develop a real connection with people, so that when FB goes up, it won't matter to your brand. |
