It's been a long time, we shouldn't 've left you, without a dope beat...Well, maybe it hasn't been that long, but after a few weeks recharging our promotional batteries, Culprit is back in the saddle plotting our imminent return. First and very foremost on our agenda is spreading the word about the new venue in town that our team is truly excited about : a mid-size (500 capacity) club with an 4am license, fresh and handsome look, outstanding installation sound system (Funktion Two), forward-thinking music policy and a quality team behind it. Say hello to Sound!
Located in the epicenter of Hollywood nightlife - on Las Palmas and Hollywood blvd - this is no run-of-the-mill commercial venue. While distinct in its design and feel, Sound is modeled after some of the best music-oriented clubs in the world, like Cielo in New York and Electric Pickle in Miami. Without too much advanced fawning, this venue is intended as the safe haven for quality dance music in Los Angeles, with the experience centered on its dance floor and its ample sound system. Hence, Sound.
After a few months of hard work and typical bureaucratic wrangling, the club is ready to go. Next Friday November 9th, its doors will flung open, and the Culprit clan is happy to say that we believe we have found our night-time home. As with most new venues, there are rough edges to smooth over and quirks to work out, but the main concept has been realized. Sound's first line-up of talent is set and you are all cordially invited to join - for this club was built for you.
Getting things started are, appropriately, a trio of top artists who call Los Angeles their base for a good part of the year: two ex-Chicagoans Lee Foss, a bonafied house legend MK (aka Marc Kinchen) and Droog. We shall talk a bit about all of these next week. But for now, get excited, for a new club kid is in town! |
