THE 8th ANNUAL OLD SCHOOL BOXING DAY BLOWOUT!
A NIGHT OF OLD SCHOOL CLASSICS FROM BEFORE 1998

Featuring legendary Toronto DJs:

CHRIS SHEPPARD aka DOGWHISTLE SOUNDSYSTEM
Yes, THAT Chris Sheppard! Long before he became famous for his nationally syndicated Pirate Radio Sessions, chart topping tracks with BKS and Love Inc, Juno awards, or the over 3 million albums he’s sold across the globe, “The Shep” was at the forefront of the Toronto rave movement. As a resident DJ at legendary venues such as 23 Hop and RPM, and a host and program director with CFNY 102.1, Shep was amongst the first to bring underground dance music to the masses in Toronto. Dogwhistle absolutely killed it his previous boxing day appearances at Footwork, so we just had to have him back!

MARK OLIVER
Originally from Scotland, Mark exploded onto the Toronto club scene with his first residence at the infamous Tazmanian Ballroom, and was one of the first, if not the first DJ to bring Acid House and Techno in Toronto in 1987. He went on to form North America's first rave promotion company, Exodus, as well as hold residence at such venues as The Cameron House, 23 Hop, Atomic in Ottawa, and with promoters such as Betterdays. 25 Years later and Mark is still going strong with a weekly residency at The Guvernment that is now 15 years in! One could argue that Mark may have been the person that started it all in Toronto. Get set for a musical history lesson, Toronto style!

MC FLIPSIDE
During the golden age of the Toronto rave scene, Flipside could be found DJ'ing and MC'ing the city's biggest events and hosting the long running "Tripping on Energy" radio show. These days he can be found rocking dance floors across the globe. He's recently performed at the Juno Awards with Canadian superstar Deadmau5 whom he's also worked with. His music can be found on such labels as Toolroom, Mau5trap and Ministry of Sound, and is supported by everyone from Roger Sanchez to Swedish House Mafia. Flip's going to be bringing the heat with 90's tech-house throw down!

MANZONE & STRONG
Currently main room residents at The Guvernment and Friday night residents and new Toronto club, Uniun, Manzone & Strong have been schooling Toronto dance floors for close to 20 years now. They hit it big in the 90's as Thursday night residents at Club 108, broadcast live on Energy 108 and they haven't slowed down since. They've been residents at most of the top clubs in the city and DJ'd two events in the last year which were the biggest parties the city as ever seen, one at the Rogers Centre, and the other at Downsview Park. Expect a set full of classics from what was possibly the most popular live to air of the 90's!

PETER ‘THE GREEK’ IVALS
Still DJ’ing after 20 years, Peter was a mainstay of the Toronto rave scene in the 90’s, and could be found working over dance floors at most major events in the city. He went on to hold residencies at such legendary clubs as Limelight, Club Energy and Meow. In fact peter gained such a good reputation for rocking dance floors, that was even chosen to be the very guest DJ on Electric Circus! Get set for some serious classics!

JOHN E
At height of the rave scene in Toronto, John made a name for himself with residencies for Pleasure Force and Better Days, and he went on to hold residencies at System, Turbo and the infamous Limelight Pure Wednesdays. John’s promising us a set of classic big room breaks and funky house from start to finish!

DR. TRANCE aka Don Berns
Frequently referred to as the Godfather of the Toronto rave scene, Dr. Trance was responsible for organizing some of the cities most talked about and biggest events with Atlantis, Nitrous and Effective. He was also one of first people to take the music into the mainstream during his radio days at CFNY (now Edge 102.1), and later on The Dr. Trance show on Energy 108, then Hits 103.5. While still DJing from time to time, nowadays Don can more often be found doing voice over work, improve or acting.

GRIMACE
Grimace has been working the decks for 25 years. Known for his hard techno sets, this long time Dark Rave resident DJ has over the years played for such promoters as Destiny, Atlantis and Babylon. However, his eclectic music collection spans the full spectrum of dance music. These days he is one half production duo Unit 42, with releases on Donald Glaude's Eden Records and Flipside's PBR label. Last boxing day he blew us all away with a stellar big room classic house set, expect more of the same this boxing day!
