I don't know. I don't really care for 37. It's not that big of a problem in my opinion. Just grow your own food.
The real disappointment is the condom requirement for porn in LA County.
element-y
really disappointed in the measures and prop results this year. Could care less on the presidency as there is much more to governing than just chief of staff.
At this point I would love to see how we just get out of our ing mess economically and if that does not happen, when will people draw the line on blaming Bush or Clinton, etc.
Also, Expect another 8 years after Obama for Dems with Clinton running.
For the Republicans, no idea what they can do now. That was their last guy in that tone of voice. Now its either Christie or younger Republicans. And they are really going to have to stop listening to Rove. The country IS NOT center right. It has changed. They need to re attract groups that they seem to think still believe in their current principles. Useless Rove.

Many propositions are advertised to have a particular intention, which may sound great. But unfortunately the legislation is written in such a way that it doesnt really turn out that way.
Im curious to see if Obama supporters will ask for 4 more years in 2016. Obviously 8 years is not enough time to fix what bush screwed up.
1) The world is not overpopulated, there are enough resources if people don't all try to live like the Kardashians or the global equivalent everyone owning a car etc.
2) If you actually really investigated deeply what goes on the developing world in terms of agriculture you'd see how much misery chemical-industrialized agriculture has done to the world. It's a huge part of why self-sustaining farmers ended up in the slums of the cities of the world.
And no California is not "broke". You are not the world's 5th largest economy and broke. Money mismanaged yes, shot yourself in the foot by being controlled by a fanatical anti-tax minority yes it is. And it's really not that expensive to label stuff, they already have to label a few different tings, and that's something that I didn't understand why the newspapers ate it up. It would not cost people lots of extra money on their food bill, that was just another crap lie on another deceiving political ad. The best analysis for the No vote was that stopping at GMOs was arbitrary and that if you're gonna go for labeling like that you should also include notices of antibiotics being given to animals that you eat etc.

Right, nothing to worry about, these GMO corn fed rats look perfectly normal!
I vote for Roseanne too! 'Cause she's freaking Roseanne and a democratic socialist.
Only other office voted for was for the District Attorney to put in a more sensible person in there. (Voted out an a**hole in the primaries [Steve Cooley] who targeted medical marijuana dispensaries and threw the book at political activists. Came to realize the last year how important it is to get good DAs and such so they don't go on witch hunts against your friends to look tough).
Ya glad Prop 30 passed. You'd have a LOT of pissed young people if it didn't. Was thinking of applying to a Cal State for teaching credential and they were going to admit fewer people into the universities if it didn't pass :O
Good news also that they repealed Three Strikes if the third strike is a non-serious and non-violent felony. [Also learned the last year how often prosecutors throw around the threat of a felony as though it were no biggie]. Now people won't be in jail for life for stealing socks (true story!)
I'm just glad Mittens didn't win. I've never seen someone lie so smoothly like that before and flip flop so much as if it was nothing. I mean he took the bar for that one.
I don't look forward to 4 more years of drones killing random folks though certainly. [Which BTW any private organization or citizens in addition the police can now fly surveillance drones over the US, that is not an exaggeration, look it up on Google News].
One thing I don't think got enough attention is that Obama passed 2 Free Trade Deals (they're not really free trade but that's more complicated to explain) and is working on a trade deal of the Pacific that makes NAFTA look like small potatoes.
Just glad it's all over now!

"GM crops are promoted as a way of solving world hunger at a time when the population is expected to increase. But it is difficult to see how GM can contribute to solving world hunger when there are no GM crops available that increase intrinsic yield (see Section 5). Nor are there any GM crops that are better than non-GM crops at tolerating poor soils or challenging climate conditions.
Instead, most currently available GM crops are engineered for herbicide tolerance or to contain a pesticide, or both. The two major GM crops, soy and maize, mostly go into animal feed, biofuels to power cars, and processed human food – products for developed nations that have nothing to do with meeting the basic food needs of the poor and hungry. GM corporations are answerable to their shareholders and thus are interested in profitable commodity markets, not in feeding the poor and hungry.
Even if a GM crop did appear that gave higher yields than non-GM crops, this would not impact the problem of hunger. This is because the root cause of hunger is not a lack of food, but a lack of access to food. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation, we already produce more than enough food to feed the world’s population and could produce enough with existing agricultural methods to feed 12 billion people.1 The problem is that the poor have no money to buy food and increasingly, no access to land on which to grow it. Hunger is a social, political, and economic problem, which GM technology cannot address. GM is a dangerous distraction from real solutions and claims that GM can help feed the world can be viewed as exploitation of the suffering of the hungry.
GM crops are promoted as necessary to feed the world’s growing population. But it seems unlikely that they could make a significant contribution as they do not deliver higher yields or produce more with less inputs than non-GM crops.
Most GM crops are engineered to tolerate herbicides or to express a pesticide – properties that are irrelevant to solving hunger.
Hunger is not caused by a lack of food in the world. It is a problem of distribution and poverty, which GM cannot solve.
The IAASTD report, authored by over 400 international experts, concluded that the key to food security lay in agroecological farming methods. The report did not endorse GM, noting that yields were “variable” and that better solutions were available.
Agroecological farming has resulted in significant yield and income benefits to farmers in the Global South, while preserving soil for future generations.
GM is not needed to feed the world. Conventional plant breeding has already delivered crops that are high-yielding, disease- and pest-resistant, tolerant of drought and other climatic extremes, and nutritionally enhanced – at a fraction of the cost of GM."

Fooducate: Chosen by Apple as the best health app of the year!
I downloaded the app to my iPhone, then scanned my Trader Joe's Shredded Bite Size Wheats. No GMO ingredients, good to know! Kashi, on the other hand... :wtf:
wackadoo
Thanks for the info Don. Good to know that someone is looking out for us.

That app could save CA 100 Million. Pretty dope Don.
And yes CA is broke. Just because you have revenues doesnt mean you have money. Call it mismanagement, thats fine. I call it broke, and so does most of the state.
And I kind of like trees that grow limes, lemons, and oranges all in one. Chicken with no feathers taste good.
Im not saying that we shouldnt know what we are eating, but that prop was flawed and would cost the state millions in regulation and hike up food costs that are already at record highs.
wackadoo
Im in serious trouble now! Have to throw all my food away lol. Thanks Don!!!

Being a poor person & a broke person, no you are NOT broke when you do in fact have a huge income and act like Paris Hilton, you're just irresponsible, that's a totally different thing from what people mean when they say the state doesn't have money they basically imply that we can't afford to do certain things when we could if we just switched some priorities around.
I have seen no proof that the prop would have raised food prices through the roof. Zip nada.

I have transhumanist friends so trying to seem like being a technoidealist is something radical is like ehhh to me.
It's not the simple back to nature "hippies" vs. so-called practical techno-idealists embracing progress dichotomy.
I am not a primitivist nor a techno idealist, I drive both of those nuts with my living in the gray critiques :P
