Love this bassline. This was made in 1987. That is mind boggling to me because it sounds like something Fat Boy Slim would have made about 10 years later. Ahead of its time? I think yes.

You've clearly not heard much hip-hop from the late '80s, then. Also from 1987:
Do you actually want some big-beat, then?

Whatever you think is entertaining. I'm down. I like the one you posted. One day my musical knowledge will exceed yours and when that happens I will be sure to make you aware of it friendo.

I actually threw together a mix recently of retro breakbeat. I wasn't totally happy with the flow (needs a couple more tracks to pace the build, in my opinion), but I can throw that up, if you like?
way out west should've released king of the funk as a single

Okay, have a listen to this if you're in the mood for some old school breakbeat funk. Tracklist should be self-explanatory:
01. The Herbaliser - Giant Wall Crawling Insect Breaks [Ninja Tune: 1999]
02. Ultramagnetic MCs - Give The Drummer Some [Next Plateau: 1988]
03. Pete Rock & CL Smooth - The Creator [Elektra: 1991]
04. Jark Prongo - Zonic Dance [Pssst: 2000]
05. The Sabres Of Paradise - Tow Truck (The Chemical Brothers Remix) [Warp: 1995]
06. Fluke - Absurd (Headrillaz Dub) [Circa: 1997]
07. Lionrock - Packet Of Peace (The Chemical Brothers Remix) [Deconstruction: 1993]
08. The Chemical Brothers - Three Birdies Down Beats [Freestyle Dust: 1995]
09. Drum Club - U Make Me Feel So Good (Deep 'N Hard Mix) [Guerilla: 1992]
10. Headrillaz - Weird Planet [Gee Street: 1997]
11. The Crystal Method - Coming Back (The Light's Southern Grit Remix) [Sony: 1998]
12. Invisible - Scream (True Grit Mix) [Excession: 1998]
13. Voices Of Kwahn AD - Ya Yae Ya Yo Yo Yo (The Light Remix) [Excession: 1998]
14. Fluke - Reeferendrum [Circa: 1997]
15. Vinyl Blair - Space 1996 (Vinyl Blair Mix) [Hard Hands: 1996]
As Jack said, late 80s early 90s hiphop is full of that.
The KLF - 3 A.M. Eternal
De La Soul - The Magic Number
A Tribe Called Quest - Can I Kick It?
The Pharcyde - Passin' Me By
Intelligent Hoodlum (Tragedy Khadafi) - Arrest The President
Public Enemy - Fight The Power
the list could go on
