I arranged an 'In The Darkness' remix contest recently and I've now gone thru the almost 150 entries sent to the contest. I narrowed it down to Top 10 and I've got a vote going on on my Facebook fan page. The popular vote winner and my personal favourite will both get a chance to officially remix a track on the upcoming new Darude album (no deadline/release date set yet, but underway) and also to do a one-on-one Skype production Q&A session with me, or a face-to-face one should we happen to be in the same city.

I guess next time I have to ask MSZ to help me with the elimination, he seems to have the pro terms and bedside manner in check!
On a more serious note, here are some words about the elimination process (as posted on my Facebook page): "I was looking for good sound quality & production, originality & inventiveness and "vibe & feel". I considered both the track alone and against other similar entries AND similar commercial releases. I also weighed if I would play it in my DJ set or if I'd listen to it in the car or if the style of the entry was something I'd look for when choosing a remixer or collaborator for my own tracks. I was very torn numerous times: There were for instance some amazing melodies and ideas in several tracks, but they lacked so much in sound quality & production, that I couldn't play those tracks in my DJ sets or release them. There were also some killer sounding tracks, but with very little musical ideas or originality, which didn't make it."
= I like fart bass, sue me! ;)

Totally not my cup of tea, but I dont hate anyone for liking what they like. Just thought it was a funny line to say lol. I'll do anything you want for some rims. |
