To be honest, any booker that can't run their business properly deserves to get screwed. After the 3rd email, the business should have been concluded as " it, let's hire someone else.". Judgement...use it.

Interesting, but I have to say Clarisse, and especially Karim, are rather poor communicators. They both seemed to complicate the process quite a bit. Why did they contact Youri the second time? This made no sense whatsoever. Also - too much back and forth. Clarisse in particular seemed a little too concerned with explaining the details of why they couldn't meet his initial fee demands. Anyway not saying he's not a total sketchbag, and I definitely wouldn't ever want to deal with him (not that I would as I don't even know much about him) but I feel that the Australian promoters could have don this more efficiently. The fact that it took them 2 years I think says something. But anyway it all goes back to what Karim wrote about him should have trusting his gut instinct and not go through with the tour. It was apparent that Louis was going to be quite a pain to deal with at the outset of the negotiations. Sometimes it's just not worth it.

edit: was there a contract? Don't remember seeing one. I'm sure there is though.

they should have dumped the plans by the 3rd email. they advertized a show that wasn't actually booked. this is amateur night, and honestly maybe getting screwed was a good way to give them incentive to learn how to conduct business. this is far from a smoking gun. this is butthurt towards booking a very transparent unprofessional. They enabled him. They should have walked away. That web page will not help their reputation. If it really was Marvin, his career won't suffer. Theirs will.

Australians can be very naive.

Everyone can. I've ripped off a few Chinese people:p Some guy cancelled on me, and i still made him pay. Not my problem. I could have had another job. I'm a jobber, but it. Follow through or pay.
Adam420
No, that's just because you're an :p

But my point was, the Australian promoters didn't know what kind of person they were dealing with. He comes from a culture that simply doesn't exist down there. I don't mean to be racist or anything though...

p.s. I recently had my first artist booking ever and he cancelled...luckily we only payed the flight and the agent fee, and it will get rescheduled next year. Was still ty though.

Also, this:

This guy is pretty ing ghetto, as you can see.

I'm not an . I took a gig (smaller scale than all of this) and he told me last minute that it was a no go. I could have worked somewhere else. Pay me. I'm not losing money over some dude that can't get his location settled.

That is really ed up what lil louis did ... but in all honesty clarisse and karim had a very amateur approach the whole time... lil louis caught it and went for it.
