Great stuff, really enjoyed it actually. Sorry dont have a lot of constructive criticism as I liked the flow and construction and mixing. Only complaint was that you could have mixed it up a little but as almost all the tracks had a similar feel to them, but that was precisely the point of the mix so more of a personal taste on my part. |
Thanks! |

Isn't shipping records to china ing expensive? Do you only buy in bulk? |

| I listened to this...don't have a wole lot to say but I found the mixing very underwhelming. You're using Ableton, there's no reason that should be the case... |

I use Traktor. What exactly did you find underwhelming? I'm curious because you're the first person to complain about the mixing in particular. |

| Levels weren't matching, some transitions were really short and awkward sounding, some tracks just didn't fit period (different energy levels), the list goes on. Needless to say I was slightly turned off by that, since the track selection is obviously good. Your sense of timing just doesn't seem to be fully there. And the fact that you use Traktor really don't make a difference. It felt like you were mixing prime-time techno like it was a sub-120 bpm opening deep house set. |

| Around here at least this set would be more like the second half of a warm up set rather than a prime time set, really. |

Well it obviously depends on the club and its operating hours, but that's besides the point really.
All I'm saying is that mixing techno, IMO, is all about momentum, which I felt this set lacked. |

| I agree. However I felt that with these type of tracks it was more appropriate to approach it more like a house mix. |

You had to spend 400 euros to get the deal so bulk. The shipping isn't that bad. I have an import/export license and an account with a freight forwarding/logistics company. I get the records shipped to a friend in Germany, and he sends it via the company I use which makes it much cheaper. We are a few guys using them, so we get much better pricing than with fed ex and such. I also have a few DJ friends in Shanghai and Hong Kong. We tend to order together to save more. Once in China, shipping is ridiculously cheap as labour costs nothing here.
I'll get to this mix tonight before RAVE night in Hong Kong. |
