yeah.. like i said.. that was a song i had handy. meaning i liked it and kept it. there are thousands of "wtf is this " ones.

you like that because almost everything else is perfect. expect that over filter and raw saw bassline.

i am talking like Nitrous Oxide style. noise , noise everywhere! that syle was poppin' in 2006 but it got overtaken by trouse. now it is coming full in effect but with faster bpm. still... shhhhhhhhh

everytime i listed to them i think my speakers are blown. :toothless

ya wanna know why people won't play the trance everyone wants? Because no one comes out for it. It's easy as that. Fans don't support it where it counts, at the box office and in the shopping carts.

Indecent Noise ain't selling any tickets.
Tyas plays electro. But I don't hear anyone bitching about that on TA (unless I missed the thread)...

I mean christ... all the NYTAs i know listen to techno lol

Electro to start, trance to end:

And for the record.. I had mad fun at the sean event above

This thread is making me sad. Cosmic Gate was one of my favorite DJ/producer duos. I loved them so very much. Even when Sign of the Times came out I still supported them. They got a bit fluffier with their sound from like 2007 to 2010, but they were still very unique and their sets were still brilliant. I remember when they played Pacha in 2010 and stayed on the decks till 5:30 in the morning... they showcased an incredibly unique style of soft progressive trance. Barra and Nic's remix of Man on the Run, etc...

Now they play trouse. Like ing Farty and Jochen Miller. It's expected of certain DJs, but from guys that were busting out hard trance bangers ten years ago, it's truly sad.

Still, if I had to see a "trouse" DJ, it would absolutely be CG. They still drop some good tracks, and they're definitely solid DJs mixing wise. Oh well. Rant over.

Amen dude. I literally left Soundgarden broken-hearted when I saw Cosmic Gate in Philly last month (check the thread) from what they played.

I can totally see that being the case. The biggest trance parties we really have now are the Esscala parties and they only draw a couple hundred people usually. This of course is discounting festivals and acts I don't consider trance anymore.

I posted in the thread when Tyas played here in September. I left before his set ended because it was all electro. I didn't want to be rude about it, but I basically said I didn't have a good time because there was no trance at all, except for apparently the last 30 minutes or so of that set.

Probably because the trance scene died and all the people they followed (a la CG) starting going to places like Pacha and they wanted to keep the underground feel and intimacy to a party.

but for the record. dont get it twisted. i really dug sean's set. he played the sort of electro i like for the most part. one of our dancers called his stuff an electro-trance sandwich which i ate up real quick, with extra bacon. love the breakdown in this:

the most intimate i could handle for a trance show was Love. it just really sucks for me that the guys i work for cant book trance because no one will come out.

the most disappointing for me was seeing kyau & albert last year and not hearing much trance at all.

this whole convo deserves its own thread beyond this event post

The thing is though, Porter Robinson is a much bigger DJ in the US right now than Cosmic Gate. It's probably not even close at this point.

yea now that i think about it, to me now its more of the scene and the crowd that gets to me rather than the music. the music i can avoit but the crowd sets the tone for the dj. if you have a bunch of trance family members stalking the dj all week on a social media tellin the dj what to play they will listen and come in and just play the hits. no more building a set or unexpected underground stuff.

so yea myself personally i know which trance dj's are my style and which ones are just mainstream
id rather spend my money on a techno/prog dj
or support the local talent with a more local/underground crowd

Trust me, I bitch about Tyas playing electro all the time when I'm face to face with people . I still respect the dude, though, so I don't go slandering him on the interwebs. :haha:

Lol it doesn't because then it turns into a raving lunatic of a discussion and interminably ends up in half the 'trance' event threads anyway. *shrug*

you missed the thread.

yeah no.. i don't think its the crowd. i have been going out for more then a decay and the crowd has always sucked. in its own way. if i re-listen to a dj set that i didn't like at a show, back in my home at my won comfort i still wouldn't like it.

it is definitely the music. its that together with a mixture of forcing producers to dj. dj is a art form. you can't just go there and press play/sync. you'll have to have had experience and know why things work this way. its pure production being fed by media and marketing. its big labels trying to control a certain sound above all so they can capitalize on it. its big labels who allowed trouse to be a thing. they wanted to capitalize on the afro jack sounds. pushed the trance djs to make that sound that eventually become trouse. then the house music started shifting into electro and so have these dumb ass trance producers.

the same s who are still trying to keep the trance name to their sound by calling trance 2.0. these s still trying to capitalize on the loyal fans of trance.
