| Down for this, I have a soft spot for some quality breaks. Stanton Warriors are badass. Plus it's next to my place. |

First post, n00b here....
Yeah looks like me & my wife will be going to this. Umm uhh, if we can get a babysitter....we're really old, like uh....40! Saw this listed on a breakbeat site....its not even on Firestone's calendar. We've been wanting to see some breaks DJ's after all the electro, dubstep, & trance events this year.....so this will be PERFECT. We saw Icey @ EDC and he sounded great & have never seen Stanton Warriors.....missed at Ultra a few years ago.(wont go back, HaHa) Shud be an awesome night. Havent been to Firestone since they reopened so interesteed to see the changes.
I'll try to contribute & list events on here when I see them. Looks like the major stuff is already here. Been reading TA for awhile....thanks for all the news. |

IT's ON! Gonna be awesome tonight....Time to rage Firestone! Wanted something a bit different & we got it. Many may disagree....but I say this is a much needed change-up from the norm this year. Icey & Stanton Warriors will bring it! n00bs get prepared! This isnt a fist-pumping, no-dancin', crushed up next 2 someone like a stadium rock concert, & just stare @ the DJ event.....
This is the BREAKS! |

OK, well guess I was wrong about some things...
REVIEW of last night:
First off, awesome night, great time, Firestone is top-notch. B4 I rate the music, the first thing on my mind is how nice a job they did w/ the improvements @ Firestone. The place looks great and the sound baffling (sp?) is perfect. You CANT hear the music in other rooms no matter where u are......so u really can choose what u wanna listen to. You cant even hear the main rooms music from upstairs AT ALL through the glass. Cant stand it @ festivals/clubs when the sound bleeds from one stage to another (ie: Ultra, aka: the never go back festival even if it was free) For the places we like to go I say Firestone is in the best category with: The Amp in Ybor, & Revolution in Ft. Lauderdale.....and of course The Social (O-town) for bands. And thats for overall experience, no dress code, no door snob, sound system, drink lines/prices, & the crowd.
The music: Went expecting to check listen to Icey & Stanton and whatever else. Well, that didnt happen AND the main room was packed to where u cud hardly move (which seems to be the norm now especially @ festivals), and people cutting thru the main floor to get to the VIP area. So no one was really even dancing in the main room, except maybe on the elevated VIP area. RAVES, or whatever is politically correct to say these days, have basically turned into rock concerts with people crushed up against each other. BORING. That was just the main room though....the other 3 areas there was lots of room to move around & dance. We got there for the last 15 min of Columbo, and what I heard I liked....it sounded pretty hardcore, almost dark. But I dont know too much about his music. Sum of his stuff is poppy...gotta have at least 1 track w/ a girl singing on it, ya know!? [sarcasm]
Lots of great breakbeat in 2 spots & jungle/drum & bass upstairs. We stayed in the den & outside for most of the night & had a blast. Awesome breakbeat & some trap.
Icey was next on main stage @ midnight. There was no room to get crazy and I didnt care for much of the music. After liking EDC I was expecting more. I only was out there for 15 min and couldnt take it anymore. Of course Icey plays great music, and played lots of styles....but for my tastes it was too much trance & house sounding music w/ breakbeats behind it. Icey played some cool moombah & trap, but it was just WAY too crowded to have fun. We hung out in the other rooms & went back into the main room around 1:45 and sum guy was on stage spinning....this dude told us it was 1 of the Stanton Warriors.....1 didnt even show up??!! Either way we listened for a few minutes & it was OK....but the DJ's in the den & outside sounded so much better. Plus when we saw it wasnt even the Stanton Warriors (AS BILLED on the flyer) I wasnt interested to listen. The little bit I heard sounded a litle too chopped up/weird/artsy but I didnt give it a chance. I'll give Firestone the benefit of the doubt and hope they didnt know only 1 was showing up.....hopefully the other DJ is ok.
All in all GREAT NIGHT, very fun. Firestone is AWESOME, great sound, excellent job on the sound baffling, awesome electro breaks, bass, & trap in the den & outside. Will definitely go back again. Hope everyone else had a good time. |

Yeah, I dunno, I didn't feel it.
Total sausage fest and a bunch of weirdos (meth-heads) that looked and smelled like they didn't take a shower for 2 weeks. I think I saw 4 attractive girls the entire night. Lol.
Not my cup of tea. And Icey sucked ass, what's with all the pop music that he injects into his set?
But yeah, the one thing I did enjoy was DJ Sandy outside. He was playing some damn good breaks and the vibe was a lot better out there. Inside was a disaster. |

YES. Lol. Yeah DJ Sandy was doing really well outside. Had a lot of fun out there since there was elbow room and it was loud, yet not so loud that you could have a conversation and kinda just chill. |
