What's your thought on touch surfaces for synths, DAWs, mixers, etc.? Maybe I missed a thread in DJ booth? Personally I love the idea, just none have been responsive to the level of what I would require to switch yet.
One physical aspect that will never be re-created by touch is the limit--the end of up or down on a slider, or knob left or right. I do this blind when I play, and the feedback is important. I'm not a fan of endless rotary controllers either, but that's another topic.
You can probably do some sweet shifts on a filter with touch, probably the same way they accomplish edits for vocals in a lot of tracks, just without using a mouse. A really nice touch screen, tap back and forth between different ranges like you were hammering out a beat, a really cool square S&H or whatever pattern, a lot of possibilities! |

knobs+touch=too weird and jumpy to work.
XY-pads are far better, plus you can control two parameters at the same time, winwin.
Most stuff that's out there now is for iPads etc. Do a search here for Touchosc and you'll find some threads on the subject. |

maybe the pianoroll if zoomed 10X, and some automation in the sequencer. rest no, mouse imo. |

i'd much rather decouple presentation from control, that way my fingers aren't in the way of seeing what i'm doing |
