Headphones/Audio Interface Setup

So I've been doing some research on a better producing setup. I was thinking of going with the AKG K702 headphones and NI Audio 6 as my audio interface. I know that the headphones will need an amplifier, but will the Audio 6 work as a good amp? I also have the Traktor S2, can I use the Audio 6 with that or will I have to get the Audio 2 for DJ-ing? Thanks for any input. |

Hi RAV,
This is an interesting question. I'm not sure that you can use the Audio 6 as a soundcard for dj'ing, but it is a very competent audio interface. If you can't use it as a soundcard with the S2 for cueing tracks, the Audio 2 is only around $100 so you might be able to buy it as well. I'm pretty interested to hear what others have to say about this. |

I often use the S4 for spinning, when I'm using it at home, my monitors and system in general is going through a Saffire and I just route 1/4" jacks from the S4 to the Saffire, works good for me. I can't speak about using the Audio 6, but having more than one audio interface has never been a problem for me. Also I use the AKG K701's and I just use the Saffire for them too, I don't use a seperate headphone amp for them. They work fine for me like that. |

Thanks for the advice guys. I bought the AKG headphones and Audio 6 and we'll see how it goes. I don't have the money or space for monitors but I do need a good pair of headphones for producing. When it comes to DJ'ing, I don't play often, just for friends sometimes so I don't need to get too serious about it. I've just heard you need a soundcard like the Audio 2 when playing, but I haven't had any problems playing straight from the S2 yet. Thanks again! |
