Hi guys :)

A couple of NYTAs are coming to check out Igloofest. We've never been to Montreal and don't really know where to start planning. Got any words of wisdom for us? :)

Stereo and Circus are afterhours clubs open 2am-10am +, no alcohol sold. World class sound systems at both, you must check out one or both.

Peopl is a decent club really close to Igloofest that plays decent house music, I often left Igloofest peeled off a few layers and went straight there.. regular hours club, decent crowd.

Velvet is another club really close to Igloofest that might be playing house music, I dunno I haven't been there in a while but I know on thursdays they do. Nice club, the dress code is a little strict I guess. Cool place though.

Salon Daome is midtown, about a 15 min cab from Igloofest.. the music's great there, less club and more lounge but with a legit dance floor. On the weekends it fills up pretty nice.

Thx for the post :)

Stereo is def on our to-do list, just waiting for them to announce what's going on in January. Haven't really seen anything that grabbed my attention @ Circus, but we might check it out.

We could do without house... any good techno places?

What is some music you like? That may help. Unfortunately for you Montreal clubs tend to play much more house than techno.

montreal is a very "vibe-y" city. as decent as some of the clubs are, it's really all about the atmosphere and vibe. i would go to a local bar (shame you are not here during the summer, there are plenty of terraces). As a tourist the most fun you will have in Montreal is being able to walk down the street beer and joint in hand and not being worried about a task force swooping in and taking you off to Guantanamo bay. The vibe is really what most tourists like about this place. it's much easier to speak to strangers here or to pick up someone you see at a club than it is in most big cities. i would also recommend eating every single one of your meals at a mom and pop shop, random independent poutine shacks or brasseries. enjoy your stay in the city.

Mostly the harder and deeper techno, lately very into Droid Behavior and Stroboscopic Artifacts, but I also love Detroit techno... anything Drumcode bores me to death though.

It's like that even here in NY, but thankfully the underground techno scene here is alive and well.

Well I actually confirmed yesterday that I will be having a gig on the 24th of January and I definitely play the deeper and harder kind of techno (Jonas Kopp, Skudge, Rob Hood, Ken Klock, etc...) so you might be into that. Feel free to contact me if you want more details.

But other than that yea the choices have mostly been listed and it's a matter of waiting to find out what the line ups are like I guess.

Def have heard many ppl say this... been wanting to go to Montreal for a while and January is the time for me since I have a few other trips coming up. If it wasn't for adult responsibilities and a lack of funds, I'd be traveling all the time.
