Im sure most people saw that ableton 8 is 25% off at ableton.com and you get a free upgrade to 9 when it drops.
However for Suite 8 there was 2 versions - boxed and download. Boxed had a huge library of samples etc.
I was wondering if you needed to buy box suite 8 to get the full suite 9. Happy to report that is NOT the case, the download of suite 9 will have all content minus a printed manual.
Heres the email from ableton if anyone is interested.
I'll pick up a suite 8 download version right after new years (accounting reasons ;) ).
cheers

Hello there,
Thanks for getting in touch with us and your interest in Ableton. We apologize for the late response.
Live 9 will have two different versions as well but since Live 9 is not released yet we will show them on our website in the first quarter of next year.
Please note, in Live 9 Suite, the difference between the boxed and download versions will be that the boxed version will have, in addition, the installation DVD's and a printed manual. All sample content will be identical for both the download and the boxed version.
Please click here to get more information:

If you purchase Suite 8 during our campaign, the free upgrade will then be added to your account upon release of Live 9 in the first quarter of 2013.
It will provide you with exactly the same features and content as a normal Live 9 Suite version would.
Remember, it does not matter which version of Suite 8 you purchase now, as Live 9 is only available via download. That is, all content for Live 9 will be able to downloaded through your Ableton user account.
Feel free to contact us if you have further questions or problems.
Best regards,
Danny
