Have you mentioned your concerns to the local magistrate?

I tried. She says message boards are for ing losers and that any adult on them is a retard and won't listen to my grievance.

Explain to me in detail the difference between say, playing a game of chess and any strategy game you care to compare?
Granted many different videogames can be described in many different ways, but calling them all ‘low brow’ is just parading your ignorance and sincere lack of understanding regarding the entertainment medium. Many have levels of depth and complexity unparalleled in any games format you care to mention. But then again you’re probably the kind of socially-inept retard that can’t enjoy games with friends, right? No low-brow fun for you!

You’d think that someone that lies about having a degree would cut other people some slack for “playing pretend”.

Name one game that comes close to chess. Apples and oranges. Board games are fine. Playing a first person shooter by yourself in your room is pathetic. And since this is Steam, which ironically i am aware of as i've done work for EA so I am quite familiar with the concept, the latest trends and how and were things are going. Would never waste my ing time playing one. I've seen the testing rooms.Every single person is a socially inept chronic masturbator. Lab rats.

I know more about video games that you could imagine. Does not change the fact that of all the things the world offers, video games are a waste of time. I could ignore someone that plays something one hour a week but i have a feeling you s play all week recovering from your rave pills.

Lol, you’re kidding right? Any top-shelf RTS has far more depth and complexity than chess. That’s not even touching on the turn-based genres.

I asked you to identify the qualitative differences between chess, and a strategy title of your choosing.

Oh right, and you’re deliberately obscuring that immense knowledge right now, right? Lol.

and playing board games is what exactly? Hell, what does any game offer? Explain to me why beating someone at, say, poker, is any different to executing some awesome strategy in wargame: euro escalation?
Sleightful
Isn't any hobby just a waste of time? For someone who's adamant that they're above the video game playing rat people, you sure are spending a fair amount of time discussing it on a forum.

I also consider poker low brow entertainment. Look. We are not going to see eye to eye. You guys like designed for mediocre minds that find fascination in mind numbing activities that do not allow for real human interaction as a normal board would and in my view a stream of white noise to keep the fragile mind occupied. I can't fault you for that.

You are completely right. I just don't get it. I think it is pathetic like i think people that buy the avengers dvd is pathetic. I don't know what sort of operating system you have running and i suppose i should be thankful the world is full of idiot gaming addicts as they definitely make the rest of us look rather good. I guess i pity the person that sits in front of a computer playing pretend when you could be doing real things, seeing real things and meeting real people. Perhaps there is more to it. Maybe just a symptom of being really ing ugly and awkward and lacking friends that have a heartbeat

Enjoy your gaming!!!

Other than being wrong (at least, title-dependent) I don’t actually care about this. What I care about is your arbitrary distinction regarding different forms of gaming (or indeed, any hobby) and I wanted you to provide examples of why they’re so different. Your poor attempt at response thus far is indicative of not having a real answer. Just (misplaced) prejudice.

I suspect richie’s physical clumsiness when growing up made many activities seem un-fun to him. poor guy! I see I was right about the odd use of language though.

quote:

Asperger syndrome (AS), also known as Asperger's syndrome or Asperger disorder, is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests... Although not required for diagnosis, physical clumsiness and atypical (peculiar, odd) use of language are frequently reported.

Yes, because it is completely impossible for someone to both like video games and "high" art. No way could a single mind enjoy both!

If anyone's mind is pathetic here, it's yours for not being able to comprehend that.

Big boys like L4C don't like video games because the enthralling digital experience is highly unergonomic. Sometimes you wanna reach in the game and choke-a-bitch as a testament to your digital fortitude. Can you play drums with your opponents heads in a first person shooter? YES. But since most fail at mousing they get frustrated and quit. Give the world one second to play in a fully physical simulation akin to the Star Trek Holodeck, and they will go ape for it. And playing chess is okay, even if there are only two ways to win any game.

Can't we just play video games because they're fun? Besides, "crushing vags" is not exactly high-brow... whatever that means :p

Good grace in a bottle, we are doing this again?

Many Nobel Prize winning scientist do have trouble with social situations and their own household affairs. Does that make them pathetic human beings? Despite being seen as these brilliant minds who've contributed so much to our civilization.

Also, embracing your the hobbies you had as a child, heck embracing your childhood, is an important part of growing up. Dismissing those hobbies as a waste of time without any redeeming values, is something I just find pathetic. Such statement really screams "Look at me! I'm the adult! I'M THE ADULT!"

Furthermore, I find maturity such a redundant concept. I think it's much more important to develop critical thinking and open-mindedness, than to occupy your mind with mortgages, taxes, interest rates and other "mature" matters.

Lastly, yes, I know it's important to establish contacts and socially interact with others. However, I'd do that through the expression of myself with the various arts, rather than through wine induced conversations about personal matters.

P.S. I really dislike competitive games. I just hate the concept of someone winning and the other(s) losing.
