2013.02.16 [LA] Robbie Rivera, Pierce Fulton, David Solano @ Avalon

They finally posted the other dj's. I guess for some events you have to post the entire card to sell, and some dj's draw well so they can be the only one announced and then fill the lineup later.
Last 4 LA area shows have been awesome(not at Avalon) playhouse, wild rivers, vanguard, exchange. I'm enjoying my year long Avalon free run. |

| Saw him in Ibiza this past summer for a short set when he was on the Full on Ferry bill at Judgement Sundays. Don't even bother wasting your time or money, he was the worst DJ of the night. Playing dubstep tracks :nervous: |

Nah you're just impatient :p
Also I would count the Wild Rivers show as more of an Orange County thing. Bit further out from LA but I know what you mean by LA area.

i would agree with wild rivers as oc....you missed the thread where oc was defined as la....i think it was either in the thread where it was established ”i was not in the business” or that circus was a ”tier three club” or maybe the one where i inquired exactly how to define a ”headliner”. but ya, a fellow ta set precedent that oc is la...so i went with it. |

definitely agree, my least favorite setting for robbie is Avalon.
as for that dubstep comment, here is part of an interview with techibeats:
Is there any subgenre of EDM that is off limits for you as far as DJing/producing? If so why ones and why?
Dub step, drum and bass. These type of sounds I cannot play on my sets so I don’t produce them. I do respect all types of edm though. |

Most surprisingly, he melted people away by dropping dubstep onto the crowd, playing ‘Rage Valley’ by Knife Party.

never heard of that song so i looked it up on youtube.
4 min 44 sec.
no crapstep until 1:30 mark- goes on til about 2 min,
2min-324 no dubstep crap
324 the dubstep kicks in until 354.
So approximately 20% of the track has that annoying dubstep sound, i dont think dj's play entire songs in their sets, so its very likely he played 2 minutes. most of which wouldnt have that annoying noise in it.
you'll have to get your boss to stream beta live next week and we can see for ourselves. |
