mixing Mea Culpa - Spirital Light with Conjure One - Redemption

ok, i'm stuck. the last couple songs in my mix tape go from psychedelic trance to progressive, as follows:
12. Mea Culpa - Spiritual Light (John '00' Fleming Remix)
13. Conjure One - Redemption (Max Graham Remix)
14. Artificial Intelligence - Blue Harvest
15. Force Mass Motion vs. Dylan Rhymes - Hold Back
(all songs can be found in the hub)
tracks 12 and 13 are where the problem lies. both are over 10 minutes long, and have an ungodly 1-minute breakdown/buildup with ethnic female chanting. for "Redemption", the first 8 phrases are without beat, and when the beat finally comes at 0:56 mark, it's the body. how should i mix them nicely? and if i don't want the female chanting breakdown part, is it a good idea to bring in "Blue Harvest" during the 5-minute mark? for the lack of beat problem, guess i could make a clean 4-bar loop of bass drums, and layer it upon "Redemption" throughout the song (which practically means i'm replacing the bass drum?), but is it really a good idea to do so? |

I love a challenge, and decided to give this a go. Its a quick mix - but I have the beat come in right as spiritual light ends - you have to use the treble to match it. No biggie - Redemption is just slightly faster than the last song. Here's a sample link

yea that got me started, thanks. i layered Spiritual Light's bass drum over Redemption, until the actual beat comes. that makes mixing a whole lot easier. i mixed both songs at full length, though.. well at least the transition was clean. thanks again.
P.S. just realized that i should've started this thread in the DJ booth forum  :sadgreen: :nervous: sorry moderators. |
