Sound selection is the main part of the mix process.
After the sounds have been chosen and appropriate levels have been set, the mix should sound pretty close to "done".
Sure, you can get creative with aux effects, reverb etc, but really there shouldn't be much difference between the resulting mixes - they'll generally be predicated on the sounds selected.
I'd say, maximize the potential for pure mixing:
As others have said:
no sound replacements
no tracks can be moved around - that is, the composition is set in stone
I'd also recommend:
using full-range sounds rather than sounds which have been reduced, either in level, dynamics or frequencies, so people can set their own levels/compression/ filters
using mono sounds so that people can apply their own stereo treatment |

So what would be best is dry tracks, like the packs Stephen Wiley used to send out for remixing.
All individual tracks, no FX, no limiting/compression etc.
Then the competition comes down to just mixing them in the purest sense.
Anyone got full track packs for this? Maybe a well known track or recent release? |

Sorry mang, dont really have anything worthy, well maybe one thing I have but, it will take forever to reassemble the pack, go into the project, dry everything up. I have to meet some deadlines at the end of this month on i'll probably never see a penny from but its still stressing me, so I cant help. |
