Brazil prostitutes plan English classes
SAO PAULO -- Prostitutes in one of Brazil's biggest cities are beginning to sign up for free English classes ahead of this year's Confederations Cup and the 2014 World Cup.
Cida Vieira, president of the Association of Prostitutes in the city of Belo Horizonte, said Tuesday that 20 have already signed up for the courses and she expects at least 300 of the group's 4,000 members to follow suit. The association is organizing the classes and seeking volunteer teachers.
"I don't think we will have problems persuading English teachers to provide services for free," she said. "We already have several volunteer psychologists and doctors helping us."
She said classes are expected to begin in March and last up to eight months.
"It will be important for the girls who will be able to use English to let their clients know what they are charging and learn about what turns them on," Vieira said by telephone.
"And for the same reasons we are also thinking of offering free French and Italian classes," she added.
Prostitution is legal in Brazil.
Belo Horizonte's 62,000-seat Mineirao Stadium will host three matches of the Confederations Cup and six games of the World Cup.

Apparently, no other World Cup has ever been so far behind in terms of the planning and construction schedule.
One person I know who is closely involved said it makes the South Africans look like the Swiss in terms of organisation.
Don't rush out and buy those tickets just yet..... |

It's called 'Jeitinho brasileiro' or 'brazilian way' of doing things.
Our politicians and all the responsible people behind the World Cup are ing retards. They only care about how much money they will earn, by making overpaid contracts with builders and such.
About the prostitutes, here in São Paulo, you can a Sexy Magazine Girl [NSFW!!!] for R$200,00 (around US$100,00). |

This.
You know what really gets on my ? There was a backlash when a FIFA official called us out. No, no one apologised and promised to hurry up. We cried foul.
I won't lie, I'm pretty excited about the World Cup and the Olympics, but the situation is appalling. I've yet to meet someone who likes the hideous logo (We know the feel, London) or the mascot's name (it sounds like "lubbish"), and here in Brasília the plans of having an awesome tram connecting the bus depot to the airport have been cancelled due to an overestimation of costs (due to the endemic corruption in our politics).
I really wanted the tram :( |
