My first attempt of a track, needs ALOT of mixing and tweaking but i'd thought i'd get some feedback.

Yes i'm new here, i've always visited the forum but now i've grew a set of nuts and finally stuck to a track i'd thought i'd register and get some pointers, i'm having problems with this track and i'm obviously not 100% happy with it. |

| This is your first attempt? Not bad man I like it! I can tell that it's not yet finished but it has a lot of potential! One thing I'd suggest is the main melody part that comes in at 0:55 needs to be a little louder, it seems too quiet in my opinion. If you have the chance, check out my song 'Aira' http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...s=#.UO_HmmfjGVo |

Thanks mate, it's my first attempt of actually seeing one through, i've started and gave up on a few tracks because i've gotten bored with the sounds or writers block hit me like a brick.
I really like that melody you have in 'Aira' i like 'Moments' as well some nice beats going on in there... Will Follow. |

Don't advertise your posts within another person's post. It's just plain rude.
Now, on to the tune. The melody is splendid, but the progression and sounds are horrid. Not sure if you're recording at <96 kbit/s or just using terrible samples, but the quality on the kick, percs, and some sounds is simply way below par. If you haven't already, I'd recommend you check out Vengeance for sample packs or Pakotec Productions, just to get started. Most of the sounds/patches used in the track are quite cheesy and need a complete overhaul.
First track eh? Welcome to the community, Sir! :)
What DAW and VSTs are you using? |

Cant seem to get the distortion on the main melody right, and the beat seems too punchy.
I use Fruity Loops 10, fairly user friendly and i like the way you can just get straight at it, im a sucker for native instruments MASSIVE, not the best software synth out there but it was the first i started using and agains its easy to get to grips with, any who, ive just woken up, time to get back at it. |

I have Komplete 8 and Massive is AWESOME. You'll find great use in that synth along with Native Instruments' other stuff. If you're using distortion, try changing the kind and messing around a little. Perhaps use a decimator or bit crusher :)
You should also try using SoundCloud as you'll usually get more feedback from that and it's quicker to listen as it can be embedded into your post. |

Interesting DAW you use there, haven't had a go at Komplete 8 myself but i scarcely know a few who use it, you being one of them.
How come you chose K8? |

Not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, pardon if I'm not, but K8 is not a DAW but rather a package of a multitude of amazing VSTs. I use Ableton Live 8 as my DAW...actually I have already prepared my hands to grasp Live 9 when it releases some time next month ;)
Komplete 8 basically includes a variety of synths, such as a synth/rompler combo (Kontakt), a classic mod synth (Massive), an FM-powered synth (FM8), Absynth, which is mainly known for its incredible use of granular modulation, and many others. To be honest, once you get Komplete, you really don't need any other synth to produce fantastic pieces. I think you can get it for around 500 USD. You can check out more about K8 here:

And Ableton here:
