Underground Story (My Review)

First thing first. Apologies are in order, because last night was the most fun I'd had in a long time and I didn't even have any other friends to share it with!

I wanted to check out to see if what the LINK/MIAMI REBELS crew was promising from this ARTICLE was going to be true. They really held up to their values and I really commend them because it was a party!

I got to STORY around 11:30 or so and drove around until I found a parking spot. Which wasn't to bad, but a little bit of a hassle. Still I managed to park rather close so in the end it was a non issue. After that I went to the bar at the restaurant across the street from STORY called BIG PINK. I love this place because they have your average beers as well as some really great selections. I ordered a Blue Moon and the bartender apologized because they ran out, BUT suggested White Rascal which was just as good or better. Shameless plug for BIG PINK go there to eat, drink, or pregame!

So around 12:30 I decided that the line outside had gotten long enough so I walked over to patiently WAIT to get in....WRONG!

Here's how it went down when I approached the line:
ME: Hello, I have a ticket can you tell me where to go?
DOORMAN: Right this way sir!
(He ushered me over to a very sexy hostess)
HOSTESS: You have a ticket?
ME: Yes.
HOSTESS: You are (name), correct?
ME: Yup.
(The clouds parted and I walked in and passed the massive line of richly dressed folks)
Night was starting off GREAT!

Now keep in mind I had seen some videos of this place before I went last night, but man videos do not do it justice. While I liked Amnesia's setup this was way better. The dancefloor was massive and all the VIP areas were all elevated like rice paddies on a mountain. This was a great idea since most clubs force the GA crowd to deal with annoying tables which make the dance floor really small.

The visuals were pure insanity....no...no...noo you still don't get it PURE INSANITY!!!!!!! To be expected from a top dollar club but wow I was really impressed. I don't think anything in the venue wasn't touched up with some LED's or something.

Atmosphere wise, I felt like I was in some dark underground club filled with some of the hottest looking women around. It was pretty good and packed. Not uncomfortably but just enough room for everyone to have a little space. Bars were plentiful and traffic within wasn't to bad.

Now on to Magda. She really knew how to read the crowd. She would play some jazzy tech, then switch up to some sexy tech, a dab of some 80's influenced tech, then the face melters. I loved her build ups, the crowd seemed a bit uneasy during that part but when she dropped the bass in, you could taste the excitement in the air. I was getting really tired and was thinking about leaving but I just couldn't.

Guys/Gals this could be a great Saturday night experience if it continues. I for one am supporting this event from now on. The LINK/MIAMI REBELS crew really held up their end of the bargain and I was really impressed by this. I might have to do this again next week with DUBFIRE, it all depends on how I feel after Fila destroys the loft next week.

Well I could agree with you on the layout of the club and how beautiful it is, was easy to get into, and the music was really good, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut imo to be quite honest the crowd was lacking, I was lacking the vibe I normally get at Treehouse. Some of them were confused and not dancing, not to mention this chick spilled her drink on my pants and said we were good lol. I'll wait a bit longer until they have an established crowd.

I totally agree with you Snats. I just kind of omitted that part since it was a given that a large part of crowd was going to be of the LIV variety and I think at one point I had a couple having sex on my back...

I think after last night more people from TREEHOUSE will migrate over on Saturday for these events.

It's going to come down to the pricepoint. It's going to be hard to get the Treehouse crowd at Story if they're charging $40 for guys. The same shows were 10, maybe 15 at Treehouse.

Though I admit I love a big club with a big system with sick visuals. Nothing tops that. But you need the crowd to go with it. Anyways, sounds like a great night you had Tomas.
