Ableton cue/preview volume issue

I noticed that when I preview a sample from the Library, with the cue volume set to 0db (blue headphone knob,) the sample actually plays what seems to be -6dB quieter, than the same sample played through Simpler set to 0dB. (Simpler is set to 0dB by leaving velocity at 0% and then increasing the default volume from -12 to 0dB.)
Anyone know why that might be? It seems the cue volume plays at -6dB lower than the 0dB it should be set to by default. Anyone else experience this? |

dunno, probably so you dont clip the output when previewing?
you can set the preview volume to +6db anyway if you want |
