The new thing is pretty much electro and trance with dubatep sounds here and there.

The biggest climax of this music was around the early 2000s. Chart-topping trance artists in the later years of the 2000s started playing more electro house, having grown fatigued with hands-up trance. Around 2007-2008, when electro house and brostep took over, remaining uplifting DJs and producers morphed the music into the current electro "trance" to stay on top.

You may still find the trance you yearn for on SoundCloud, made by young fans who want to emulate those old days. However, the number of electro house and brostep imitators drowns that out, just browsing for uplifting trance can eat up time.

Anyways, I have grown accustomed to my current taste in underground trance. It has what mainstream trance had back when, yet with varying emotions (not just happy ones) and no breakdowns. I also dig for golden age trance that existed in the early 1990s. It is beautiful stuff and I still wonder why no one has brought it back. Well maybe it is better that way.

and in response to the thread - i am becoming more and more a fan of paralogue the more i hear for something innovative i guess (well some of it - some of it is just straight forward driving stuff - which is not to be sneezed at)

Astropilot is on a par, if not better than, Solar Fields IMO. Here's a recent-ish set of his, some of this is still to be released:

Maybe not innovative in terms of something that hasn't been done before, but impressive variety from one person.

genuine and innovative are sort of at odds with each other.

I'm sure that makes sense in your head.
Looney4Clooney
yup.

you see J, the thread asked about music that was innovative. When something is genuine, it is typically genuine in reference to something prior. And when you have something that is like something old, you don't call that innovative, you call it stale, old, or as you said genuine. WHich is why they are at odds with each other. But perhaps you just expressed yourself poorly which is why i didn't say you were wrong but rather expressed how your description could use a little more thought.
